Whilst we're on this topic can anyone advise a couple of pubs in Puerto Rico for when we go in early March. We're a couple in our early 50's and prefer pubs with good cheapish lager and some music. Any pubs with live music would be good, especially country music.Failing that 80's & 90's would be good but not rap or hip-hop.
Hi Reggystray, we went to puerto rico in may 07 and we found some lovely places to eat ie; restaurant San Miguel adult meals 6euro 50 kids meals 2euro 75 and they are really nice ,you can get steaks pies pizzas etc, they also do a breakfast for 3euro 75 and that includes tea or coffee and toast.Fat cats do a really nice english breakfast it's on the beachfront next to yogis not as big a portion but really tasty. Also for excursions try Palmitos park if it is open whenever your going some really nice animals to see,and you try the dolphin trip,we did but through the rep we just walked down to the harbour and got it 20 euros cheaper and yes we did see plenty of dolphins .Hope this helps,or by the way San Miguel is in the commercial centre.
There is a country and western bar on one side of the commercial centre that does some live music, also the black and white piano bar, they do all sorts on the erm...piano. Probably the "top" end of the main commercial centre will suit you more, smaller more relaxed bars, playing a variety of music, the middle and lower end (nearest McDonalds) tend to be more dance and rap/R n B orientated. Quite a few irish bars with live music too. Where are you staying? As there are 4 commercial centres knocking about each with something different to offer.
Thanks for that Neil, we're staying at Bahia Blanca. Anything else would be appreciated, do you know the name of the country music bar?
I think its the Indian Head, its on the road side, just up from the taxi rank. Youve got Amadores beach nearby for retaurants and bars, or a taxi to the main commercial centre in PR.
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.
welcome.
Neil, please indulge me here. If I come out of Bahia how exactly would I get to Indian Head, remembering I have never been to Puerto Rico.
Feeling brave, cross the road (carefully it is a main road) to the coastway walk and turn left follow this along till uyou get to the harbour, you will see a small centre on your left. Go past this and you will see the beach on the right, follow this around till about 3/4s of the way the a a footpath to the left, through the park. Straight along here and you will get to a small road cross here and go down and through the tunnel. (DO NOT PLAY THE PEA GAME if it is there!) this will bring you out opposite a small bar (it looks like a public toilet, all tiled) and go straight across the crossing in front and follow the road till you see McDonalds. and follow above instructions!
There is a map posted on the Isla bonita post so you can see where you are.
Thanks Neil,
p.s Neil don't you think they should update that map, I've looked at that for years and a place I stayed at about 15 years ago (the ARAUCA) changed to the PUERTOMAR is still the old name on the map (think it changed about 10year ago ), plus the Terrazamar is still missing. I've tried to find a more updated map but no luck...YET
The ladies in the park arent really around anymore. The police clamped down a while ago, and its very rare i see one in PR doing the old bracelet tricks. Still a few looky looky men but generally its much much better than it has been. Still ALOT of timeshare touts around though.
shooting would be too humane......... perhaps a new thread is in order...inventive ways to remove timeshare from the streets.....
