You would definitely share one room with 2 double beds in America. This is the norm. I think the brochures reference to bed-sharing relates to European hotels where sometimes small children are allowed to share a single bed to save money or fit in the room.

Sorry can't help about the hotel 'International Inn' though!

Hi Elaine

I've just searched through several pages on Google using these keywords 'international drive hotel formerly known as International Inn.' but couldn't find anything.

Sorry!

Thank you to you both

Maybe someone else will know of what happened to the international inn :)

I remember looking out of the window to my left & about 10 minutes away there was wet & wild.

Wish we could afford to go this year but hopefully next year will be "our year" :tup

It wasn't the Rodeway Inn International was it? Probably closer to Wet n Wild then 10 minutes though.

I know that we would never return to our honeymoon hotel in Orlando. It was the Wynfield Inn on 192, now known as the Polynesian. We couldn't get our first choice the Wynfield on I Drive and had to make do with this. It was ok, typical USA style motel property but without a car, and with the horrendous road works taking place on 192 at that time (1999) it was impossible to walk anywhere.

Benefits:- next door to Ruby Tuesdays and 10% off every visit.

We still remember our honeymoon fondly, but we would do it a lot differently now, especially having been 4/5 times since. Hindsight is such a great thing.

Looking out of the window onto I Drive the Hotel to my left was Holiday Inn (Ive just got the photos out.)

Ive got none of the actual hotel from outside as we were out each day & used the hotel as a base. We used the pool once :)

I remember we drove at the side of the hotel to its car park at the back.

If you have Google Earth you can zoom in on the Holiday Inn and see what's next door.
If all else fails call the Holiday Inn and ask "what's next door?" :)

Had a look at Google earth, found Holiday Inn & it does look as if the hotel next door was the international inn...trouble is...I can't see what the hotels name is :duh

Apologies if I dont reply straight away as Im not online some of the time :)

OK- while you are zoomed in on the Holiday Inn, enter Quality Inn International into the Search box and see if it comes down again on the hotel next door.. :)

Ive just been in the loft for some old maps of Orlando and I have one dated 1997.The hotel next door to the Holiday inn,(not the Holiday inn express)is now the Howard Johnson. Its number is 6603, I drive and the Holiday inn is no 6515.If you google "Map of International drive" and click on link below small map then click on banner ,International drive, theres a current map of I Drive with all the hotels on..Put Howard johnson into google and there are photos which you may recognise.

Looking at the pictures of the Ho jo's pool it does look different, also looking on the google map the building seems low rise. im sure we were in a sort of small tower block section, and were at least 4 floors up as we had quite a good view

Funny enough, we spent 3 weeks in Florida, 2 at Orlando and one in st Pete's beach...at the Howard Johnson !

Thanks to you all for your help, its been an interesting search but i wish back then I took more photos of outside the hotel & area as well as the normal holiday pictures.

(I take more now bearing in mind I can post some on this site ) :)

Thanks for the trip down memory lane folks..

I Enjoyed looking amongst my souvenier maps as we used to go twice a year around this time staying at different hotels on I Drive. After our first visit we braved a fly drive and used to go to the Tourist Info at the Mercado centre and get the booklet "Florida on the go".This had coupons for discounts at lots of hotels all over Florida. We even got the Clarion Plaza and Omni Rosen at the bottom of I Drive for $29 a night with these coupons. We got brave and travelled all the way to Key West.I have just remmbered the Quality Inn International was near the Holiday Inn and the car park was around the back of it,could this be the hotel?.Someone has posted a link a few posts up.This hotel was very popular then along with the Quality inn plaza which was further down I Drive.

Could it be what is now called the "Orlando Grand Plaza" at 7400 International Drive?

I can't find a hotel web site but this link has some pictures of the hotel that might jog your memory;

harlowgirl,

we stayed at the Quality Inn International in 1990 and 1992. It was on the corner next to the 24hour MacDonalds.

Mind you twice was enough & stayed at the Wilson World Maingate in 94, much better. More a hotel than the QII motel.

good luck with the search

Bill
