Is your finger still on the "book now" button?
If the kids loved it, then go for it, as you know they will be happy....and if the kids are happy, so are the parents
depends if you want your holiday to be adventurous or relaxing.........
I bit the bullet and booked it, I know we will have a great time as Cala Bona was lovely and the hotel and staff were fab. I am definately wanting relaxation as my children will be about 2.5years and 15months old!
also found great price £1540 2 ad 2 kids (7,3) 2 weeks from 25th aug no transfers tho wonderd if better trying to do diy................
I don't have any direct experience of the kids clubs as my daughter was only 8 months old at the time but they looked like they had a cracking time! I really can't praise the reps enough, they were fabulous, worked really hard. I also didn't eat at the restaurant but heard such rave reviews about it that will try it this time. You can go half-board or buy the vouchers at reception.
what are the drink prices and what does the upgrade include and when are you going pooks and what price??
Is the upgrade the Room4 or whatever its called on the Thomson website? I don't know what that means.
I am going in Sept 2008 and I booked direct with Thomson. I think its costing about £1350 for 2 adults and 1 child (2.5 years) and a baby (1) and that was with a web discount so I don't think your price is too bad.
Stumpy1412178, Bonaire is Thomson only in the summer so no-one will have done DIY. Off season have look on the Protur hotel website. CBG
Cala bona 9th May
Yes - it is possible to book Bonaire apartments diy, by using Thomson hotel search on their website (currently showing apartment cost of £126 for 2 adults, 2 children in early May). Then just a case of finding your cheap flights, car hire or transfer and insurance. You could probably do it all for about £600 plus spending.
Stopping at the Bonaire in July. Can anyone recommend which block or room numbers that are good, preferably high floor with a pool view. I understand one block doesn't have a lift, and one block is over the restaurant. Thx
we are there in july, been before but can't remember which blocks are numbered etc unfortunately. There is a block that is over the restaurant which is one of 4 blocks (I think). Not much useful info I'm affraid, sorry!
Me and my family are going to Cala Bona next August for a two week stay at the Bonaire.
We have been going to Cyprus for the last 7 years so really looking forward to the change.
Has anyone stayed at this property this year - Any info - Prices etc in resort foo/drink
What kind of weather can we expect, we travel 12th August 11
Cheers
Sharon
Hi Sharon ... while you wait for some feedback here in this topic, we do have some 2010 reviews of the complex which you may have missed, as the property is listed in our database as Protur Bonaire ....
Haven't stayed at the Bonaire as we tend to book direct with apartment owners but have never heard any bad reports about them. As for the weather you shouldn't have any problems....we stayed 6-20 August this year, had a couple of days of cloud but it was nice as the heat can be very intense (not as intense as Cyprus tho'), we had morning where it rained for about half an hour and then the sun was cracking the flags.
Can recommend Eileen & Pedro's - Supermercado Ca'n Pedro just past the Alicia but before the Bonamar....lovely couple and Pedro makes a mean sarnie in a choice of bun for €1.60...they are also good for your cheap booze.
There's a Bip supermarket on the back road in Cala Bona which the locals use and there's a big Lidl at the bottom end of Cala Millor...it's a good walk but worth it...take a trolley suitcase for your buys or get a taxi back.
Food wise...as a family of 5 we could eat out for about €40 and that's including a soft drink each...can heartily recommend the Argos Bar on the front which was very good value for money and their cooked breakfast was delish. If you fancy a short walk...try CHEERS in Cala Millor where you will always be guaranteed great food at very reasonable prices...it's our favourite haunt and has been for 11 years.
As the Bonaire is part of the Protur group make sure you have at least 1 day at La Reserva in Sa Coma....this year they did a discounted rate for Mon-Fri and if you were Protur guests you got it cheaper still.
Basically opens at 10.30am and closes at 5.30pm...inside it's a mini waterpark of sorts suitable for the whole family, dedicated child area but even the main pool wasn't deep. You get your breakfast (continental), lunch (cooked) and tea (cakes etc) plus ALL your drinks (soft & alcoholic) and as many ice lollies/ice creams as you want during your stay.
Kids absolutely loved it, we all did and had a fab time this year, planning on going 3 or 4 times during our stay next year.

Hi tisonlymoi
Hi Sharon75 we too have been going to Cyprus for years and love it but in June 2009 we booked a cheap 10 day deal to the Bonaire and we loved it, although my children (aged 11 and 9 were too old for all the little ones entertainment they still made loads of friends and enjoyed the pool and football pitches. To be honest i wasn't expected the apartments to be up to much as none we have stayed in, in the past have been but i was surprised at how clean they were, even the microwave and cupboards were really clean and if i cooked on holiday(which i don't) i would have been happy to use the equipment. You have to be up early to bag sunbeds, 7am to get near the toddler pool and by about 8.30-9 to get anywhere else but if you don't get any you can sunbathe on the grass on towels while some become free. The entertainment goes on most of the day and is quite loud but everyone seems to enjoy it and there is a daily quiz and water polo game as well as all the activities for the little ones, I believe they have built a activity splash pool around the back of the apartments now that wasn't there when we went and there is usually a game of football going on in the afternoon on the pitch. We never stayed at the apartments in the evening as we always went to the harbour to eat but it was always really busy and lively when we went past to go out. The choice of restaurants in Cala Bona was one of the best things about our holiday as the quality of food was really good in most of them and we were happy having a quiet drink in the evenings. The only thing i prefer about Cyprus is the weather, i like it the hotter the better and even in June it wasn't as hot as i like and we even had drizzle on two days but in August i would imagine it will be hot.... Have a great time, i wish we were going back.
Thanks for you reply. Only time will tell if we enjoy it as much as we do Cyprus but was in need of a change next year. My daughter will be 6 next year and sounds this place caters for the younger ones, just hope my eldest son isn't boared he will be 15 next year but if they have football pitches he will be happy!!
Thanks Again
Sharon
Also, is the Thomson kids drop in den any good? Last year the kids had to go to separate clubs and this didn't appeal to them but with this I believe that any age can attend?
Thanks in advance
Just a quick one. As i have said we have been going to Cyprus for the past seven years self catering and had to pay for our aircon. This was limited when we could use it i.e in Cyprus you have like a really big metal card which you put in the wall when you are in the apartment for the electricity to come on, i think this is common in most self catering in Cyprus/Greece but i beleive the Bonaire has AirCon and not classed as an extra. Does the Electricity work in the same way or is the aircon when you want it it or if you are in your room.
Also if anyone has stayed here before do you know if the aircon is just in the bedroom as we are self catering, i only ask as when we have visited Cyprus the AirCon was only in the bedroom, bit of a nightmare when i have two kids who will be sleeping in the living area.( we have had to all squeeze in the one bedroom in the past!!)
Thanks in advance for any info.
Cheers
Sharon
aircon starts up when you put card in.so get two or 3 when you check in.cannot think now if aircon is in all rooms.if not just leave aircon all day.and open bedroom door.but aircon will be in living area anyway.
last time i went it was in feb 2006.so did not use it.
