Hi
We are due to stay on a caravan site in the above area in May to attend a weekend football tournament. As yet we do not have the full address but wondering if anyone knows this large site and advise whether there are any pubs/restaurants in the local area.
Many thanks

As for meals, Cumbria has some great places but it all depends how far you want to travel. Do try some of the local villages as you find them great value for money!
In Cockermouth, there is a pub that you can get a main course and a pint for under a fiver!!!
Its packed by 11.30 every Saturday!
Don't worry about not finding it! Silloth isn't a big place. The biggest place caravan park in Silloth is the Stanwix Holiday Park ( As for meals, Cumbria has some great places but it all depends how far you want to travel. Do try some of the local villages as you find them great value for money!

Thanks Spinner for your reply. We were thinking about eating in country pubs so will get the map out and see what local villages are nearby.
Just had a phone call the name of the place we are staying is Solway Holiday Village - which is holding a two day football tournament at May Bank Holiday weekend. Ever heard of this place?

We stayed at Stanwix Holiday Park last July, (camping) The resort itself is lovely. As for bars, I can only really remember seeing 2, 1 of which was a hotel/bar/restaurant. There may be more, but may be more hidden. Slinky
One bit of advice.....take something warm! Even on the best of days, Silloth can be a bit breezy.
Was planning on packing for all weathers - nothing worse than standing on the touchline at football - freezing to death in a short sleeve t shirt !!
