Hi there. Has anyone memories of their first time in Malta, when was it and what has changed since then?
We went in 1986, there was only 1 set of traffic lights in Florriana. The rules on roundabouts then were, traffic on the roundabout gave way to traffic entering the roundabout, very confusing!! There was lots of 'waste land' that has since been excessively built up.
There were no such things as ATMs, you could only spend what you had taken with you in cash and travellers cheques................. This meant we survived the 2nd week on Maltese bread and soup for evening meals, wonderful!

hi , my first visit to malta was way back in 1987 and even then there was building going on all over the island but we kept coming back ,we went to other places like the greek islands which we enjoyed but something kept pulling us back to malta and here we are living in saint pauls bay this is our fourteenth month living here and we are doing another twelve months and who knows we may do another year after that there is more crime on the island but you are still safe to walk around without fear of being set on by a gang of hoodies and you dont feel intimidated walking past the young maltese .the one thing that does upset me are the number of stray dogs there are all the dogs homes are full ( as is noahs ark where i help out ) but hopefully in the near future it wll get sorted out lorna

Hi my other half first went in 1975 and he says he can remember there were just rocks in Qwara hardly any buildings at all and not alot in Bugibba. There is a kids playground in Sliema he can remember playing in and it's still there.

His mum is Maltese (married his brit dad and lived here for years) and can remember the sea coming right up to the church in Msida and the American sailors walking around and giving her chewing gum.
