Out of all the excursions available I would choose the one to the Fire Mountains over anything else.

The old town has loads of lovely restaurants down there in and around the harbour, but I wouldn't really call it quaint. In fact there is more work been done down there than there has been along the strip, so it could almost be called the new town now !!

Puerto Calero is the Marina along from Puerto del Carmen, you can get a waterbus there from the old town harbour. It's a fairly small marina with a few shops and restaurants.

You can't walk to any of the other resorts, but it is carnaval in Costa Teguise on Saturday, so you may like to take a bus over there and watch the procession.

Arrecife - I would say that it's not worth a visit, and definitely not at night. Perhaps if you were here for two weeks, but there is really not much there to see.

The children will be welcome everywhere, there are pedaloes on the main beach, banana boats, amusement arcades, there is live music in a lot of the bars, Rancho Texas Theme Park is nice, Biosfera shopping centre.......

Yes you will need 2 taxis from the airport as they are only licenced to carry 4

Umm, restaurants, well I love La Cascada near the old town crossroads, Dolce Vita on the main strip, Puerto Viejo in the harbour, and cheap and cheerful Pinnochios (sp?) on the main strip too.

The kids will probably enjoy Rancho Texas CLICK HERE, you can go in the day and see the bird-of-prey and parrot shows and have a look around at the animals (they had a crocodile show when we went, not sure if they're still there - I think they have sea-lions now); or they do an all-inclusive evening with a themed show and food & drink included, you need to book for this (your hotel rep or reception can help you arrange it). We went in the day and it was lovely. There are free buses from various pick-up points in the resort.
Also, you can't go to Lanzarote without going up to Timanfaya (Fire Mountain), it's what Lanzarote is all about!
There are excursions available from your resort CLICK HERE- look for leaflets in your hotel reception or near the shops.
Have a great time - we went for a week's chill-out in 2004 and had to go back for two weeks in 2005 just to give us more time to see everything!

You must go to Timanfaya. Simply breath taking.
We also enjoyed Jameos Del Agua, El Golfo, Los herbedoras ( probably spelt that wrong). Mirador del rio, and sailing across to la Graciosa ( not one for your kids though there is nothing there at all except golden sands, a little harbour and a couple of restaurants)
Oh yes..and Teguise Market is a must....

Definitely take the coach tour around Timanfaya and see the view at Mirador Del Rio

Thanks for all your replies, all useful information. So is it a bit divided where is best in the evening, the Old Town or the Strip.

Might have trouble getting the kids out of the pool but certainly will try to make Timanfaya

One more day to go keep the info coming restaurants,Bars etc saves getting dragged around the town when you know where you are heading for.

going to lanzarote thursday to same apartments lomo blanco never been before but been to tenerife and gran canaria so good to see what other people have said about it

I've heard that you can get a boat from Lanzarote over to Fuerteventura - do boats go from PDC harbour? Any idea how much and how long it takes - not too good on a boat!

The shortest trip is on the Fred Olsen Express ferry from Playa Blanca to Corralejo which only takes about 15 minutes but there is a catamaran ferry called the Princess Ico that goes from PDC to Corralejo 5 days a week departing PDC harbour at 08.45 hrs and returning late afternoon. I think the trip takes up to an hour but someone else might be able to confirm that as I have never used it. Return trip cost for Adults and teenagers is €30, children €15.
