I've been to Hurghada many times but have only stayed at the Grand and Grand Resort Hotels. I love these hotels but they are difficult to book now as they have been withdrawn by Thomas Cook. These particular hotels do not have a house reef, unlike many in Sharm, so snorkelling is off a boat. They do, however, have by far the best entertainment I've experienced in Egypt (have also stayed at Hilton Sharks Bay and Conrad, Sharm).
There is a Coral Sea Resort in Hurghada. The reviews I've read have varied quite a lot but everyone likes different things anyway. Hurghada has a different feel to Sharm - less glitzy and far fewer British but I love it all the same! Hope you find what you are looking for.
