Hi happymackem, not conversant with the bus services in that area, but you could always try the train. Looking at a timetable, you could do the following. A day out to the market town of Jambol. Dep. Bourgas 10.40 arrive 12.34. journey length 110 klm, 20 stations. dep Jambol 1633 .arr Bourgas 1825
this is with a change of train at Karnobat on return journey. Now the cost. 8.50 Lev each return. Cheers. F.V.

Hi happymackem,

where do i find the english timetables for the trains

Here, remember to look for 'Burgas', not 'Bourgas' and 'Jambol', not 'Yambol'. The train fares are available on the website, after you select your train, various permutations of single/return fares & classes will be shown. Summer timetables are not yet available.

There's also a Bulgarian timetable for minibus Express services here, look for 'ЛЯТНО РАЗПИСАНИЕ' (Summer timetable) halfway down the page - От Ð'ургас-Автогара "Юг" is 'From Burgas South Bus Station' and От Ð'ургас-Автогара "Запад" is 'From Burgas West Bus Station'.

The main, possibly only, railway station (or 'realway station', as the map describes it) is near the South bus station - see near the bottom of this Burgas Map.

If you mean the references to, e.g. 'Burgas razpredelitelna'/'Burgas tovarna', 'razpredelitelna' means 'dispersal'/'distribution', while 'tovarna' means 'goods'/'freight', so they appear to refer to marshalling yards, etc., rather than passenger travel.

Happymackem, if you go onto timetable site, just click in the two stations, when times come up select any one, then under the train no; you will find the list of stations on route, this was handy for me, as I printed off my journey and ticked them as I went, and when you think 50% did not have names up, it helped. I cannot vouch for Burgas, but both at Varna and Dobrich you purchase tickets at ticket office before boarding. Tonyt

Hi again, happymackem,

I've just found the website of Burgas Bus Stations, which gives extensive destinations & timetables BUT unfortunately the site is encoded in Windows-1251 (Accented Cyrillic) fonts, so appears to be gibberish until decoded into a legible Cyrillic font, e.g with this tool.

When run through the decoder, Àâòîãàðà"ÞÃ" = Автогара "ЮГ" (Bus Station "South") & Àâòîãàðà"ÇÀÏÀÄ" = Автогара "ЗАПАД" (Bus Station "West"); Ðàçïèñàíèå = Разписание (Timetable), etc.

Destination examples:

Àõòîïîë = АÑ!топол (Ahtopol)
Öàðåâî = Царево (Tsarevo)
Êèòåí = Китен (Kiten)
Ïðèìîðñêî = Приморско (Primorsko)
×åðíîìîðåö = Черноморец(Chernomorets)
Ã'îçîïîë = Созопол (Sozopol)
Ã'ëúí÷åâ áðÿã = Слънчев бряг (Slanchev Bryag/Sunny Beach)
Âàðíà= Ð'арна (Varna)
ßìáîë = Ямбол (Yambol/Jambol)
Ìàëêî òúðíîâî = Малко търново (Malko Tarnovo)
Êàáëåøêîâî = Каблешково (Kableshkovo)
Âåëèêî òúðíîâî = Ð'елико търново (Veliko Tarnovo) and so on..............

ÃŒÃ!ÆÄÓÍÀÐÎÄÍÈÀÂÃ'ÎÁÓÃ'È= МЕЖДУНАРОДНИ АÐ'ТОÐ'УСИ (International Buses)

Hope this helps.
