Try the Aphrodite Beach Club hotel in Gouves in Crete. And don't let any negative reviews sway you too much - there is LOADS going on for kids, entertainment, bowling alley, swimming pool and exercise classes! Plus plenty of excursions available all over the island, and a good car hire agency within walking distance of the hotel. You might like to look them up on the web, googling their own website for good pictures before reading the reviews. We had two great holidays there.

Hi Emma,

It might be worth checking out the new Holiday Village Algarve (formerly Club Alto da Colina) at Balaia near Albufeira. The First Choice website has a good video showing all the kids' club activities etc. The beaches are some of the best in Europe and there is a choice of waterparks and excursions, boat trips etc. And it will be hot!

I'm sure there will be lots of restaurants within walking distance, but a short taxi ride takes you into Albufeira where the Old Town is very lively but family-orientated.

I would definitely say Ayia Napa. Don't be put off by the 'clubbing thing', as a holiday is what you make it. We normally stay about 15-20 mins out from the main nightlife area. There are plenty of restaurants on Nissi Avenue, plenty of restaurants by the harbour, which is really pretty at night. There is the funfiar for the younger generation with McDonalds next door it and a KFC round the corner!

There are day trips up to the Troodos Mountains in a Jeep Safari - they take off road in long wheel-based landrovers and you get to see the real Cyprus and luinch and local drinks are provided. The weather is Aug is always hot. Nissi Beach is realy lovely, plenty of water sports, with plenty of food and drinks stands, and also plenty of water sports at the smaller local beaches too.

This year is my 10th visit to Cyprus since I first went in Feb 2000. I would definitely recommend Cyprus to everyone.

I was going to suggest the Nissi end of Ayia Napa.

Olympic Lagoon resort possibly.

Hi Emma

The Club Belcekic Beach Hotel in Olu Deniz has all you describe. You would need 2 rooms, but they will allocate them next to each other. Next door is the Olu Deniz Resort hotel which I understand is very similar but has family rooms if you wish to all be in one room together and may be cheaper, especially if you are in one room.

Olu Deniz has watersports, the hotels have kids clubs, there is the main beach which is sand/shingle and infront of these hotels, but the lagoon has private sandy beaches, which send cars to the hotels to pick you up. They are only private beaches in the sense that they expect you to pay for sunbeds & brolleys and buy your drinks and icecreams from their bars. There are shops and markets within easy reach, many excursions, historical and fun.

The above hotels are AI and very popular with families, often getting fully booked, the BB has people return to it year on year, so if you want this summer you might need to investigate it now. Unlike many AI's these are not isloated and you can walk to bars, shops and cafes easily. You can book them through Portland/Thomson.
