Dear holiday truths,please could you give us any advice.My cousins and i went on holiday to Cyprus,we
booked to stay in the Margadina hotel with Olympic holidays.When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist gave us keys and told us to go across the street to the rooms above the shops,the entrance to these rooms and the rooms/balcony were very run down and shabby.We were very upset as this was not the hotel we booked.A few hours later my mum arrived in Cyprus, staying in a different hotel,when we told her what had happened she immediately complained to the receptionist at the Margadina hotel.After much persistence by my mother we managed to get a room in the Margadina hotel 11 hours after we arrived at the hotel at 10.30 pm,the day before.The Margadina hotel itself is in desperate need of refurbishment and the food was so awful we had to eat out every day,there was also no other English staying at this hotel. We could not find the Olympic rep to complain to,we were not given a welcome invitation and the hotel staff could not give us information as to the reps visiting times.We complained to Olympic holidays when we returned but they refused to investigate the matter further, as we did not complain to the rep whilst in Cyprus.After much letter writing and writing to abta and sending photographs of the room/entrance above the shops,Olympic holidays have finally offered us £25 per person £75 in total,should we except this offer or take it to arbitration.Please could you offer any advice,thankyou.
