I had to bump this up, as the whole thing is starting to stress me out.
The quote I gave above was per person, when I thought the flights at that price would have been for both of us.
- Am I right in saying, we are better off looking at June, as I notice the July prices become obscene what with children finishing school. June will still be very lively I assume?
- Would it be advisable to book the flights via a website such as travelrepublic/thomson and sort the accomodation out directly, i.e email a few hotels and ask for what dates they have free and price? As opposed to doing it via someone else?
I've never booked a holiday before in my life and it seems everything I'm supposed to do has others on other forums saying the exact opposite. Some are saying it's cheaper to book via an agency instead of DIY, which sounds very hard to believe.
- Also, i don't have a credit card - why is this better than paying via a debit card?
the cheapest is always out of school time [by a long way]
the independent way [book flights/transfers/hotels separate can [but not always ]save you dosh
why use a c/c it gives you cover if the holiday goes ti** up due to failure of one part of your holiday [but not as much cover as a good insurance] but you will pay a surcharge for the pleasure..
I usually book for OH and myself through an agent and it doesn't cost me any more than DIY...BUT i have never been known to over pay for anything...

No I don't have any children it's just me and my mate going away for 10 days - 2 weeks we feel is too long and 1 week isn't long enough.
I've read that it's adviseable to book the flights as early as possible and then find accomodation around those dates - also to try and fly out and back both on week days as it's supposedly cheaper?
I've been looking at a accomodation, but is it better to contact the hotel, appartments etc, directly and book with them, as opposed to going via somewhere like Alpharooms and the like?
by keeping away from school holidays you will save, by traveling week days ..you will save-- by taking night flights.. you will save-- by not having in flight meals ..you will save how much depends on who with etc.. also look at travel agents like one of the myriad of co op group outlets they are often a few quid cheaper than the main agents..
I'm sorry there is no easy way... its either find what you can afford or find what you fancy and work to get the price right
