Just checked on skynews.com and its on about the israelis bombing their way through the Egypt border to get food etc.
We are staying in Taba which is near the border
Do you thin there is going to be big trouble I was worried about staying there in the first place after the bombings there years ago
Thanks

Yes I am worried too as I am travelling to Taba
We have already booked

The best place to look for official advice is on the FOREIGN & COMMONWEALTH OFFICE WEBSITE.

Really all people here can do is give their opinions.

Gaza is miles and miles away from Taba----------it is in the north whereas Taba borders with the south.

We're going to Nuweiba, for the umpteenth next thursday, which is between Israel and Sharm. We absolutely refuse to worry about what might or might not happen. Life is too short anyway to let things like that spoil your hard earned holidays. It is most unlikely that there will be any effect in the Sinai from the current problems with Israel and Gaza, and I must, surprisingly, admit to a certain admiration for the efficiency of the egyptian security forces.

thats what impressed me to carrot ,last year was my first trip to eygpt and like most first timers your always a bit apprehensive ,but the level of general security all over the place makes you feel far safer than at home ,or indeed in other places abroad .when they blew up that dolmus in kusadasi in turkey a couple of years ago we where there the previous week and it was on the route that we used to get into the town .i for one will not give up a holiday that i look forward to all year because of some idiots

Thank You for your sacastic comments... i Have never been too Egypt so have no knowledge...
I thought this sight was for people to help and advice and NOT too ridicule someone...
I am a single mum, taking her Blonde teenagers away too somewhere for the first time...far enough, i shouldnt listen too horror stories of somewhere... but i need to be reasured that we will all be safe...

So again Thank you for making a worried mum with M.S. and travelling alone feel really good about herself...
Enjoy yourselfs taking the micky out of others because i wont be visiting this awful sight with very rude people ever again...

hi Debbie
You'll be absolutely fine in Taba. It's quiet but there are a couple of discos in the hotels along the beach for your teenagers. A shuttle bus runs along the hotels so they don't need to walk too far. There are no towns or anywhere for them to go to so no worries there. The security is really good and it is a long way from Gaza or any trouble. A very peaceful area and the Egyptians are really nice. Just a note of caution, if your blondes are female, a bit of sensible dressing would not go amiss. It is a Muslim country after all and not like Spain or anywhere else in Europe. Hope this helps.

Im surprised you got off as lightly as you did. I was left open mouthed at the sheer inaccuracy of your views.

Thanks for all those who have helped but for those who found it an excuse to jeer if you havent got anything helpful to say then dont post not everyone can be as educated as you all who seem to know Egypt so well.
I too am a first timer and havent found some of you to be very supportive either which is a shame as I also thought these forums were here to advise :que

My sentiments exactly!!

This forum is to help holidaymakers. We hope that our more knowledgable members of countries/resorts will assist those who have never visited these areas before.

may i state that the british foreign office has not issued any no travel warnings to egypt or to israel for that matter. it is as safe in egypt as it is in england (maybe that would put you off coming).
please understand that any of the incidents that have happened over the years in egypt could have happened anywhere else in the world.
just go and enjoy your holiday what a wonderful place to visit.
