I have to say that the Sandray does look ok. You don't have to walk to the beach- it would be 5 mins but tuk tuk or taxi. Lassigirl made a good suggestion of going and seeing before you decide. I have asked for the Sandray to be added to our reviews.
Hi, guys.any answers yet to the various places that i am asking about. Can i add one more and that is Ponto do Sol in Dona Puala.Anybody know anything about this area. Many thanks, Katherine
Basically it's a headland with no beach to talk of, and what is there is just grey silt.
Couple of hotels, same for bars/restaurants, not much in the way of nightlife so a taxi into Panjim is the option.
Thanks Eddie101.I will give that one a miss.At this rate and at the prices i am being quoted i think i will pack my tent!!I will keep looking and hopefully something will turn up.Katherine
Hi all.Now i really need some advice.Have found villa near Vaiguininm[Ponte do Sol] and 1 near Vraca[Whispering Beach]and 1 near Velsao[Horizon Beach Resort]/All the villas seem to be attached to Hotels unlike other areas in USA and Europe. They are all around same price, which is the best?As they all are the same size etc.I think the Ponto do Sol means the beach is very bad but that was for Dona Puala. Is it the same for Vaiguinim? Also dont know the size od Whispering Palms but Horizon Hotel is 30 beds with 2 villas so that would probably be less crowded as i have a daughter that will not swim in the sea.I do not want a pool that is too crowded.I am so confused but must make the money transfer today.Am afraid to try what lassigirl suggests as i dont know the country.Any help would be appreciated.Katherine
Get a taxi to S2 at Ashwem beach in the north. These are new shacks with en-suite shower/wc a ceiling fan and a mosi-net over the bed. Paradise. Whilst there you can travel to Arpora ect and check out accomodation at your leisure, but you may choose to stay in your lovely beach shack. Many were already being rented when we were there in February, but by now there may be vacancies, if not there are other shacks at the next beach-Mandrem for hire. All are approx 1200-1500 per night (£15). Give it a try, you won't regret it. S 2 is owned by a nice guy called Sudan. He also has a restaurant in Calangute. His beach shack sells lovely food and is ideally situated on the beach.
Hi, to all who answered me thanks!!!!Even reading back my posts they sound awful. As if i am so fussy, which i am of course.I think if it was just my husband and myself i would not be bothered but with a very Girly daughter she would make my life a misery. I am hoping that i have hit it right as i also have a 15 year old boy who will try anything. It is o.k for all you very experienced Goan travellers but i have trouble imagining even what a shack is!!Anyway i am booked and am away 22nd. I probably have paid over the top for the villas but that is my own fault as i missed out on what Elliebee suggested."He who hesitates is lost"I hope to read through the whole Forum again before then, as it it really is interesting. Thanks to Elliebee, tightjock, lassigirl, katiep and all who took the trouble to answer me-it really is appreciated.I am sure i will have more questions betwen now and Sat..Thanks again, Katherine
