Hi All.I have been searching for villa with pool in the South but there are lots on different beaches and i do not know which to choose.Am looking for a quiet area near to nice restaurants-at least walking distance to some.If i take a house very near the beach is it not likely to be very noisy with people coming and going.I travel on March 22nd.Could you also tell me how long it takes to go to the markets in the North and the approx.I read in the Forum to agree a rate with taxis at the airport but how are you supposed to know how much it should costs in the first place.Many thanks, Katherine

Margao is a great (though manic MADgaon is it's name in Konkani) authentic market town and is 20 mins from Cavelossim. A taxi-hire for the day from the South is between 1200 and 1600 rupees and you will be taken where ever you want to go.
Thanks tightjock, that was really helpful as i am beginning to really worry that i have made a mistake in booking this holiday.Purchased "Rough Guide to Goa" and that did not make me feel any better as this guy is hard pushed to say anything positive about any area.This beach is not likely to be remindful of photos you see of lines of sunbeds in the Costas is it?please say no as it is the sort of thing that i run a mile from.Is this villa that you stayed in at the end of a long drive privately owned and where do i find it.Thanks again, Katherine
Katherine I can assure you it isn't a crowded beach. We go at the busiest time of year and it doesn't resemble anything you will see in the Costa's. Jock has the contact details of who he booked through im sure he will pass on the link.

If you have a particular type of villa in mind , I would seriously advise you to get on with the booking as soon as possible. The dates you are travelling include the Easter holidays, so you might find your choice already taken.

lassigirl, that is my problem as i have been afraid to book in case i chose the wrong area.That book i read only made things worse.I will try and book tightjock recommendation as soon as i find out where it is.Katherine

Don't let one negative guide book put you off, there must have been something that made you book Goa in the first place. Give it a go, I'm sure you will love it.
Hi Fairies, we have been to north Goa for the last 5 yrs and last year decided to visit the south for a few days during our 3 wks holiday.After discussing it on the forum with some of the h/t members who stay in the south we decided that Cavelossim sounded the best option for our first visit to the south (thanks again Lassi,Tightjock & all the others who chipped in with info) We enjoyed it so much we are booking a wk there as part of our 3 wk stay in north Goa next Feb.We stayed at Luissa by the sea (2 couples) in one of the 2 bedroom villas and we would have no hesitation booking the place again, all you need is within walking distance,beaches,shops, good restaurants and you have the advantage of having a pool at the villa if you dont fancy the beach.....

Hi, have in actual fact been trying to find accommodation in Louisa by the Sea but so far without success.I had one Company[lazy days that quoted 14,000 I.R per night] which i am afraid is beyond my budget.Whilw i have been worrying about where to go and waiting for this darn guide book i am afraid that i have lost time but for the past week after work i have been really trying.I know now where to go so i shall try to find somewhere.Have tried the links suggested.Many thanks, Katherine
Hi All, cannot find anything[that is anywhere reasonable]at Louisa by the Sea.Have sent enquiry to recommendation by katiep.Has anyone ever stayed in Sandray Resort, Benaulim?Have sent them an enquiry as well.Katie p, its not that i dont want to go there but i should have taken time and done this before i spent so much money on flights.Then i probably was to unsure and hesitant so it is my own fault.I can only perseve but am running out of options.Have been offered Arpora which i discovered is in the North.It is very expensive and i really would prefer the South.Has anyone ever been here?Sorry to be such a nuisance and i appreciate all you answer me.Katherine

Have tried them tightjock and no success.lazydaysarequoting over £500.00 for what they are charging-same property.I think that i might need to go Noth for one week as i can find a house in Benaluim[spelt wromg] for the second week.There seems to be plenty of villas in the North.Is there any particular area in the North that is very quiet?Thanks, Katherine

Seeing as it's now only a week untill you arrive in Goa, I suggest you hire a taxi on arrival, and head out to the places on your list. Then you can see for yourself , and make your choice.

Apora is a lovely little village in North Goa, plenty of facilites but about 1 mile away from the nearest
beach. Good choice of restaurants and shops not far from Baga Calangute or Candolim, which are very busy resorts.
About 20 mins taxi ride to quieter beaches further north.
