Hi, I just managed to get a late flight deal from Gatwick to Larnaca for £94 return. Is that a good price? I've got some CYP's in coins and notes. Does banks still change them for euros or do I have to go the central bank in Nicosia? I would like to go to the Turkish part and stay in Kyrenia for a couple of days. Is that possible or can you only visit the North on a daytrip? Are there many buses plying the route between Nicosia and Paphos and how much are the fares? What is hitchhiking there like, in case I get too impatient waiting for a bus. Because I used to hitchhike a lot in my younger years, I'm not shy of travelling this way as long as it's easy to get lifts. In case I decide to stay in the Troodos mountains for a day or three I was wondering if there's many places to stay up there? I only just bought my flight ticket today and haven't got hold of a guide book yet. Therefore all these questions. I had the choice of flights going to either Tunisia, Malta or Cyprus in the next days and Cyprus won. Hopefully I made the right decision.
Banks will, I'm sure, still exchange your CY£ for Euros.
You can travel 'up North'. A couple of days will not be a problem.
Public transport in Cyprus is almost an oxymoron. http://www.cyprus.com/cyprus-general-info-transportation-bus-services-intercity.php
No idea about hitchiking. The only problem is you will possibly get taken to an aunt's/uncle's/cousin's etc house to be given the 'friendly' hard sell of lace/wine/handmade jewelry etc.
