Thank you for the commments GFF and Elliebee.

I almost forgot to mention that the coast road down to Mobor (at least as far as the Leela Palace) has bee re-tarmaced.

It was (almost) a pleasure to travel on!

Despite the problem(ette)s with the Holiday Inn, we thoroughly enjoyed the break - and Mobor is a super beach.

Next year (Feb / Mar) we intend to ro spend 3 weeks Thailand / Vietnam, so it may be a while 'till we return to Goa. When we do, it will still be in the South. Whilst we thought Mobor was great, we probably won't go back to the Holiday Inn and the Leela is rather expensive and also, we felt, too impersonal. We were not impressed with Cavelossim itself.

I think we would move slightly upmarket from the Holiday Inn - the Hyatt and Radisson are the favourites (incidently the 40 odd rooms Janet was looking for in November will almost certainly be at the Hyatt). We also rather liked the staff and the atmosphere at the Ramada, so if our budget is on the low side we may try there.

Will post a proper review of the Holiday Inn when I get sufficient time to think about it!

Cheers

Thanks Pete that was really nice. We visit North Goa, but I love reading reports about the South as well, cos its somewhere I would like to stay one day as well.
Like yourself we are also looking at Thailand, and ive heard Vietnam is fab.

Hi Pete, really enjoyed your report, we usually visit the north but south Goa sounds lovely, I have visited Palolem a couple of times and Utorda beach as well which I loved.

I am off to Thailand / Vietnam and Cambodia myself in July so will let you know how we get on :tup

Hi all,
It seems that several people are considering moving elsewhere, and away from Goa. I must make it clear that we thoroughly enjoyed South Goa (Mobor beach is great). Our reason for looking elsewhere is mainly because we don't want to get into a routine.

We found previously (immediately after the Tsunami) that greed was creeping into many areas of Thailand - this seems to be an unpleasant fact of life, with tourist facing staff, these days.

In order to stay "on topic" I will continue discussion about Vietnam etc., on the Far East thread.

I found FTV's report to be excellent, it is a shame that so many niggles are creeping in.

Cheers

Peter
