We are going to Antayla at the end of April. We had Typhoid, Hep A and Diphtheira, these were recommended by our GP. Our school boosters covered us for Tetanus and Polio even though we are in our 50s. Some areas do require malaria cover but med coast was ok at that time of year. The surgery printed off a list showing all different areas of turkey and recommended jabs. They were free and if we go back for a booster in 6 months we are covered for 20 years. Sue

i work in a gp surgery and we recommend hepatitis A, typhoid and tetanus be in date depending where you go in turkey esp non tourist area there are a few areas that they recommend to take malaria tablets
hope this helps

If you have a booster within 12 months of having hepatitis jab it can last up to 20years but they say 10. Typhoid lasts 3 years.

We had jabs for Egypt last year so are going to have a booster before ing to Turkey.

Hi,
we were recently informed by our GP that jabs for TB are advisable as there have been some occurences.
We had innoculations for the Caribbean at the time and were not charged.
Hope this helps.

u shouldn't be charged any vaccines apart from yellow fever, rabies. tick borne encaphaltitis as these are not avaliable on NHS

The vaccinations for Turkey are the same as Egypt. Typhoid, Hep A and DTP that we need here anyway. So you should be fine. Although the Hep A requires a booster between 6 to 12 months. If you have the booster the official info is that you are then covered for 10 years, although the 'off the record' info from many GP and GP nurses is that you are covered for 15 years. If you dont bother with the booster I think you have to get it done again after 3 years.

Hope this helps, Doe

Me and my family had the jabs 4 years ago when we last visited Turkey, we are going back again this summer and I will be checking with my Doctors to make sure we are still covered.

You just never know!! Better to be safe than sorry I say!!

We are off the Turkey in August and as a family we went to our doctor. My children, 7 and 11 both needed Thphoid and Hep A, two single injections, I needed Diptheria, Polio, Tetenus, Hep A and Typhoid and my husband needed Typhoid and Hep A. Next year we need a Hep A booster then that covers us all for 20 years. All free of charge...better to be safe than sorry I say....especially when it comes to your children.......

I had jabs the first time I visited Turkey way back in 1988 but havent bothered since.

I do understand why you would wish to especially where kids are concerned however - no harm done and every eventuality covered.

Hi, can you tell me if we should get any vacinations before we go to Turkey. My family and I are going to Olu Deniz on the 23rd of June for 2 weeks and are not sure if we should get them or not. Loads of friends told us that they have been to Turkey and never had any! what do you guys think? thanks

Gerry,
We were having the same dilemma.I went to Doctors last week and they advised all we needed was tetanus updated.Thinking was that as we were not going off the beaten track and staying pretty much around Marmaris, this was all we needed.Wife and myself both done today and kids are up to date.
