The Ponent Playa is in a great position right on Cala Fererra beach so request a sea view room if you do stay here.
We have stayed here twice before and had no problems.
It is a 10 min walk to the centre of town and 20mins to the Marina, plenty of bars and resturants around you but it will still be relativley quiet at this time of year.
A lot of the places are opening up on May 1st but it was starting to get going last week with more places opening each day.
If you want to chill and see small coves and a nice Marina and good resturants then its Cala D'or.
I will let a magaluf regular comment on the Atlantic.

Thanks for your reply, i am in favour of this one but hubby fancies Atlantic Park, we stayed in Cala Egos last year and went in to Cala D'Or a couple of times and enjoyed it.

Been to Ponent Playa, it is aimed at the german market. We found it`s position perfect for the beach but the food was awful.

We stayed at the ponent playa in 2006. Had a great time. Don't remember too many Germans but must agree with jeffro about the food. Every day was a race for a table, first time I've seen fried squares of ham instead of bacon. Can recommend El Faro restaurant which is down the road from the hotel and also the snack bar opposite. Have never stayed in magaluf so can't comment. Have a great holiday, we will be in cala bona on 9th. may, can't wait.

Went to Ponent Playa in 06, great location next to a beautiful cove, great for snorkeling and jumping off cliffs into the sea. The pool, pool bar and food was not up to scratch. Infact it was poor. Oh and the entertainment is laughable, but being in the middle of cala dor, you're spoilt for choice. Be back in cala dor in july, woot!
