Would you recommend this as a place for a stag weekend? We are all in our mid to late 30's and fancy a bit of golf and some good nightlife e.g good time pubs and bars as opposed to nightclubs. Trying to avoid Albufeira as I don't think it will be our scene but am concerned that Lagos might just be a little too quiet. We will be going the end of April 09 and the reason I'm asking now is that the villa I want to stay in is quite popular and I'd need to make a decision on it pretty quickly.
Thanks.
To be honest I think Lagos in April might be a little quiet for a stag weekend. We went in July and even then although busy it seemed to be more of a family and couples type destination. To me the restaurants far outnumbered the bars, unless I just wans't looking for them so missed them. Dont get me wrong, Lagos is a great place for a holiday and still seems to retain some Portuguese atmosphere unlike many places on the Algarve, but I am worried you might be a bit disappointed, especially in April.
Sagres might be around later he has probably visited in April so may be able to give more specific advice.

I'm here at the moment and I think it may be a little quiet for you. Certainly there is golf and a few bars like Lazyjacks on the Marina but as the previous poster said it is a place for couples and families.
Vilamoura is near the golf courses and there's plenty of bars and restaurants around the marina?
Or Albufeira old town?

Praia da Rocha should have enough going on to keep you happy; it's a lot livelier than Lagos.
I also thought of Albuferia Old Town, if you think the strip is going to be to tacky for you ?
