I agree with Rwb on this too.

I think if you are going for a couple of weeks self-catering then it would definitely be a good idea to take your own wine (Turkish wine really isn't nice in my opinion)

It might be a good idea to take some of those 3-litre boxed wines (just remove the box) and flatten down as many as you can in the suitcase.

I was thinking of taking a box of wine with me, how much are you allowed to take into Turkey?

As I recall you used to be able to buy duty free on your way into Turkey when you land at Dalaman.

Is this still the case and if so do they sell wine there?

Cheers.

Random Number, Yes you can still get wine at the Duty free on entry into Turkey but it's still expensive, Buy it at wherever you buy it from in the Uk and put it in your suitcase, I do this every time I go to Turkey for Turkish friends now that should say something about Turkish wine.

Hi rwb46.

Unfortunately I never seem to have any spare capacity and generally struggle to make the 15 KG limit. It's amazing how a few books, suntan lotion and my snorkelling gear adds up. Plus the dozens of chargers I seem to have to bring for my cameras, flash, mp3 player, phone etc!

I daresay a couple of litres of duty free gin will see me right :D

Cheers!

Is it really that bad?
I want my wine with my meal at night and don't like beer.....except maybe during the day ;) ......HELP!
As long as it's not turps I'll manage. ( white wine is the one of choice)

We were having a bottle of dry white wine with most of our evening meals in Icmeler last year, approx price was 20 to 25 ytl. It was very nice.

Simple table wines such as Kavak and Çankaya (white), Dikmen (red), Lâl (rosé/blush) and Villa Doluca (white and red) are drinkable and among the less expensive, but because discerning (and wealthy) Turkish wine-drinkers are only a small market, the better vintages are surprisingly expensive.

I personally like the Kavak...and the Villa Doluca is nice too...but I am not a wine expert...
