I was shocked as well today Mel. Decent hotels seemed to be around the £1000 per adult mark if not more . I was thinking it might be cheaper for us to go to egypt again during the summer but it was cheaper for me to book the Hemera in Turkey that I thought was going to be a megga price. it still was megga but not as bad as Egypt. :yikes

The hotel i always go in is quite reasonable around the £800 A1 for two weeks pp, we normally pay £550 for two weeks B & B, but for some reason now its A1, which is a pain as i don't like eating hotel food much.

I too had a shock pricing up holidays to Egypt for next July. I was only just beginning to recover from pricing up a holiday to Egypt for half-term Feb 09 .... same holiday we took in Feb this year costing £1350 is coming in at £2200 for next year! I can see we'll be going the DIY route for next year :(

Think even doing it diy will not bring the usual dividends. Flights for Xmas 2007 cost 350 ish, Xmas 2008 they are nearly 800 quid. - Shocking!!

Personally will not be paying extortionate prices.

I think that the £40 per person green tax is a real money spinner for the government on Egypt holidays, and is a bit rough on the Egyptians who probably need our tourist pounds more than some other Countrys. For us tit's £160 which doesn't add to the quality of the holiday. I wouldn't mind if I though it actually went on saving the environment. :( Considering it only cost us £10 each to Lanzarote, Fuert etc for a similar type of holiday ie wintersun it really irritates me. I suppose the gov will just increase it on hols to Canaries soon though. (every little helps must be their motto too :duh )

Cost of flights is such a large part of Egypt hols it's one destination where DIY doesn't work all that well.

It would be interesting to see how easyjets prices pan out but not sure how long we would have to wait and by then you could of missed a good T/o deal .

The possible 'fly in the ointment' with Easyjet is that the routes they took over from GB Airways were only agreed for Summer 08. After this season, Easyjet can review which routes are/were profitable and drop any that they don't want. It would be a shame to not book with a TO and then find Easyjet have dropped the one route you want!

hi ya'll, i think i must of been lucky i have booked to go csr at easter 09 for 2 adults and 2 kids for 2,700 quid, 2 days later the price went up by 400 quid and 2 days after that it was sold out, its more than i normally pay but then we dont usually do all inclusive and the hotel is ment to b fab so i think its worth it. plus i looked at AI at majorca for kids summer hols and that was the same price.
