Hi Saz

Most hotels I have stayed as in Icmeler have had signs up stating food is not allowed in the rooms, there is normally signs around the pool stating this as well, obvioulsy they want you to buy food and drink from their own bars.

I would complain about not being able to take in water though.

Not sure what definition they used for the word "food". We have always taken fruit etc. to our rooms without any problems. I don't think they can say anything about that as hotels don't usually sell fruit. Usually we also have a bottle of vodka and soft drinks - a glass before dinner sitting on the balcony is a really good part of our holidays. Obviously it may not be prudent to wave the bottle in the face of the staff as you enter the hotel! Just take things in a bag.

I always assumed that by food they mean making sandwiches etc. in the room - that I would agree with is not a good thing to do but food in Turkey is so cheap and good that there is never any reason to diy in hotel rooms.

We did go to one 4* hotel in Kusadasi where the security on the gate would check bags but they never checked ours - could be because I gave one of them a sticking plaster on our first day when a cat had scratched him and after that we always got a smile and hello from all the gate security staff. :)

We stayed in Selen 2 in Icmeler a couple of years ago. Nothing to complain about.

Yeah I agree, having a drink on the balcony before going out for the night is a must! I think if we took a rucksack to the shop and were discreet about it there would be no problem. Its not like we are going to be making meals in our room!

As we fancied going B&B I have noticed that some hotels have a minibar/fridge and some don't, this is what attracted me to the Selen 2 as it has. Don't fancy drinking warm water!

Glad you found the hotel ok, it is really just as a base as we don't spend much time in the hotel of an evening anyway. Think ill book today... £249 each B&B for 2 weeks 13 June... is this a good deal? Its around what we normally pay for SC in spain. Wasnt sure whether to leave nearer the time though see if drops even more :D

Looking forward to seeing Icmeler, have heard many good things about the resort and the fact that eating out is better and cheaper than a lot of other med resorts!
