Thanks for all your suggestions. I can see I'm going to be busy researching. Val - the only Sandals I can afford are those that go on my feet! :rofl :rofl

kate you must have read the same mag as I did this week. Was that Calypso thing in Take a Break or one of the others? Sounds very nice Greek cruise for adults only.

SandC- I went on the cruise last year and am going again this year! It's not a big glossy ship that many first time cruisers might expect though. I feel it's better for those who aren't put off by an old ship but enjoy the ports of call and the small ship atmosphere.

Mexico has some fantastic adults only hotels. We stayed at the El Dorado Royale and it was lovely, very quiet and relaxing.

Now that our children are grownup the last thing we want to do is go on holiday and be surrounded by other peoples children! Thomson Gold and I think also their Platinum brochure do adult only hotels exclusive to Thomson customers. I understand that Thomson own the hotels themselves so there is no chance of the hotel management allowing children with other tour operators. We've used them several times in Cyprus and Greece and they have been to an excellent standard! If you want to go further afield, try the Caribbean but I think August may be hurricane season!

Just spent some time at 'El Oceano' hotel near La Cala, Costa del Sol. Really recommend this place as no kids allowed and lovely atmosphere, particularly around the pool bar. Cocktails galore, chilled-out music, very peaceful. We hired a car and visited loads of different places from here ie Gibralter, Marbella, Puerto Banus, Mijas, Ronda etc. Came home completely relaxed.

Cheers

we have booked the Excellence Riviera Cancun for april 2009 for our silver wedding anniversary.

we have booked this because we got a lot of excellent reviews regarding it and got recommended caribbeanwarehouse.com where we got a good deal.

we wanted somewhere just for adults, relaxing and a little bit speacial, always somewhere where we can go out and go into cancun and playa del carman

i cant say what its like as we have never been to his hotel but we have been to cancun twice and all the hotels looked great and we love cancun, theres plenty to do there, even though we go all inclusive me and my husband do like to go out side the hotel just for something different.

hope you find somewhere, you want to look at the caribbean as when we first started looking a few years ago,we found that it was just as cheap as going to europe.
