Our friends 19 years old daughter suffers from a condition called long qt and is wanting to visit Thailand at the end of this years uni term.

They have a number of questions that I would be grateful for answers on.

1. Will there be an issue with the prescription drugs she has to take daily?

My own thoughts would be that they should be OK if in a prescription bottle clearly labeled with what they are and her name on them. A doctors note will be obtained and I personally would get that certified translated to Thai (or is that over kill).

2. She has a defibrillator fitted and is therefore unable to go through the scanners, has anyone any experience of this type of scenario?

Luckily my friends girlfriend is Thai, so she will translate some letters detailing the condition should they need to visit the hospital whilst they are there. I know insurance would be another issue and they are currently collating all the information to ring the medical helpline of the insurers.

My friend has never really seen much of a difference between Thai and UK customs, but I think they would appreciate some comments from anyone who has been to Thailand with prescription drugs and/or couldn't go through airport scanners for similar reasons.
