I havent done it but my sister did. She doesnt have the best sea legs so she suffered terribly from Sea Sickness. She enjoyed the trip but it was very long day. It takes about 2hours to get to the port before you start. Sorry I cant offer you any other information.

Charlie... we did a day trip to Tangiers ( from Tarife ) at the beginning of May, & certainly didn't see any snakes, with or without charmers.

We did see a few camels, plenty of donkeys, & even three sheep being man handled over a wall, almost in the very centre of the city!!

It was a great experience, although quite tiring. Certainly needs a good guide to make the most of it.

Having heard awful stories (true or false) about Tangiers - travel advice on an American site, carry a weapon!!! - we took an alternative day trip from Algeciras. Ceuta is in North Africa, attached to Morocco - but part of Cadiz Province, Spain. The only snakes we encountered were the couple of guys hanging around the ferry terminal offering to take us to a Traditional Berber Craft Market. Naturally it turned out to be a little shop full of expensive junk.The Seacat takes less than an hour. Now obviously this ain't quite Morocco but you say you like to take trips. If you like a bargain then this is it. SATURDAYS ONLY, the Ceuta Tourist Office provide a day trip which includes return ferry crossing ,a fascinating one and a half(ish) hour coach trip around Ceuta, FREE parking at Algeciras Ferry Terminal and a free straw hat!!! Parking at Algeciras terminal alone would cost more than the complete offer price. A lot of people who took the trip the day we went didn't realise they had to pop into the Tourist Office booth at Ceuta ferry terminal to get the free coach trip, free parking ticket (and hat!). The whole trip cost 15€ when we went. I think we had to book in advance. You can check by e-mailing turismo@ceuta.info

We are going to the Costa del sol for the very first time in August and wondered if it's worth going to Morocco for a day trip? We have three kids 10 and under, would it be suitable for them do you think? And what is the best/quickest way to get to Morocco, we are staying at Cala Mijas, not really sure how far it is so if anyone can enlighten me that would be great, just don't want the kids to do too much travelling in the heat if it's not worth it. To get there you would have to travel to Algeciras of Tarifa (2 to 3 hours)and then the sea crossing is at leat 35 mins. I think your kids would hate it, once there you will be hassled to buy tatty souvenirs, sit on a camel and have your photo taken, all the usual ****

Hi Twinkletoes. La Cala to Algeciras is a shade over 50 miles and takes just over an hour on the coach. The ferry crossing to Tangiers is 50 minutes. As Morocco is two hours behind Spain on the world clock, that works to your advantage, because you are likely to be bussed out of La Cala at 7am yet arrive in Tangiers around 8am!
Took our own sons there when they were about ten and they loved it. An added bonus is that if you book through Holiday Excursions, all your kids go half-price.
I've been five or six times now, and on each and every occasion a snake charmer has been around with his cobras. Our boys said it was the highlight of the holiday!

Just a bit of info if anyone thinking of this trip its roughly 140 Klm from Torremolinos to Algeciras you can take the A7 toll free or the faster AP7 motorway where you will encounter 3 tolls from Torremolinos, costing 5.50,3.50 and 2.70.

Hi Hobbsy. The Excursion Centre oprerate in tandem with CostAfrica, and do not have a website themselves. The deal with them (EC) is that you book direct and pay on the bus on the day.
That way, if any or all of your party miss the coach through illness or whatever, you do not struggle to get your money back.
It's simply a case of phoning when you arrive (952 383 445 - Mon-Fri 9.30am-1.30pm and 4.0pm-8.0pm) and organise your trips over the phone. All the operators speak fluent English, incidentally.
Alternatively, you can e-mail them at excursions@thegholidayguide.net, or have a look at the CostAfrica website to see what the excursion consists of.

Heading to Costa del sol in Feb for short break don't know where we are going but are thinking of doing some excursions. Will there still be excursions available then and how expensive are they for the whole day.
