buying an ipod in Bangkok

I know everything is cheaper in Bangkok and being i'm after an ipod am wondering whether to look for one in Bangkok, i know to only look in proper named electrical stores, but just wondering does anyone know are electrical goods that much cheaper than here, if actually bought from a 'proper' shop and can that then guarantee it not being fake? i'm thinking the shops inside the shopping precincts. Also does anyone know how it works with electrical goods? ie plugs etc being i want it for the UK? Thank
OH looked at a few prices for ipods and wasn't tempted. To be fair we didn't go out looking for them so perhaps we priced them at the wrong place.
We have bought goods back from LOS (land of smiles) and use a travel plug when charging them, nothing exotic as an ipod though, if you bought it here in the UK it can be taken back if it goes wrong, try it in LOS and they pretend they do not understand, unless your OH is Thai.
