you'll find ibiza is more expensive on villa rentals than mallorca because the season is so much shorter so people have to make their money in less time. you'll also find that if you want to reserve more reasonably priced accommodation (like mine) in august you have to book around a year in advance.

i've pm'd you the details.

another thing of course is that the housing market is so much more expensive here - after barcelona and madrid, ibiza is the most expensive in spain! my long term plan is to sell my villa here, downsize slightly in mallorca and have wedges of cash to spare. a bit like a londoner retiring to oop north.

I'm sure you've booked somewhere by now (just seen your post) but if not you could try http://www.ibizaspotlight.com which has a lot of information. Not sure you would want to go there in July and August - I assume you were talking about the summer hols? - we go in May or September which is lovely but think in the height of the season it could get a bit mad, depends where you stay of course. As to the mainland you could try Benalmadena (costa del sol) which has quite a lot of local attractions and frequent cheap buses to Torremolinos and Fuengerola. We never had any trouble getting private lets there, go for somewhere near the front or you may end up a mile up the hill in the village! You also need to be within walking distance of the "Windmill roundabout" to be central.

Good luck
