i am going to hisaronu in september,i am a widower age 62 any advice on what to do and see trips etc.
this is my first time in turkey
where in Hisaronu are you staying (hotel , apartments ). Hisaronu has something for everybody .
It is very friendly , has lots of bars and places to eat and shop. You can get on the dolmus (local transport ) to get to The beach at Olu Deniz which is very relaxed. and other places Fethiye for instance which has a lovely harbour, there are loads of trips and things to do and see depending on your taste. We found http://www.hisaronu.co.uk very helpful before we went , and i still use it now , to see how things have altered from when we were there in 2005.
Have a great holiday.
Have a great time, I'm sure you'll love it, I went there for the first time last year and July this year will be my 4th trip
We have been going to Olu Deniz and Hisaronu for a few years and love everything about it. Last year though, for a change we jumped on a bus (dolmus) and went to Gemiler Beach. The bus takes you through Kayakoy, which is the abandond Greek village. You can get off here (we didn't) and it did look an interesting place to visit, although very rural. Gemiler beach is tiny but with a great restaurant. You can get a boat from here across to gemiler island which has a few ancient ruins and you can also do water sports from here. Jet ski ,water sking, donut rides etc. There are less waves than at Olu Deniz as it is a sheltered piece of sea between the coast and Gemiler island. It was a good day out and cost just a few lira.
thanks all i am staying at the merriment hotel early september, and by your comments i am looking forward to my holiday
Lally
for an insit into the things to do please check out my website and just take a look at the long download dvd its worth the wait there is also links to travel agents in the village so you can check prices before you travel
all i have to say is i know you will have a great time enjoy turkey the culture and the food
The lagoon at Olu Deniz is beautiful and so is the gorge at Salikent.
I'll second that although I feel that beautiful doesn't do the Lagoon justice! Not that I can offer any better suggestions apart from absolutely stunning!
Hi John . We 've been going to Hisaronu for about 10 years and we love it although it is getting bigger and busier every year , Plenty of excursions available but advise booking thro local; tour companies as the holiday reps will inflate the prices . I recomend the Paragliding (as opposed to paracending) if you are brave enough . I did it when I was 62 and thought that it was excellent and exhilarating . They take you up BABA DAG (father mountain )in a 4X4 and launch you off the top .With a pilot ofcourse , and about 20 mins later you alight softly on the beach at Olu Deniz . We are going off on Saturday week to HIS. and again in September .We go DIY and book our own flights and just contact our hotel with arrival times and they pick you up (no coach transfer hassel ) Plenty good restaurants .THE WHITE MAN down near the bottom of the town is Particularly good and reasonaby priced and also THE MERCAN up at the roundabout at the top of the village . its next door to our hotel (same owner ) . You cant fail to enjoy yourself . Post a reply and tell me after youve been . regards wee-john
regards john
I'm going back to turkey in July this year, staying at LYKIA WORLD like I always do.
Last year we went through Hisaronu to get to Kayakoy and noticed how big it was for shopping, so this time we are spending a day there just shopping and wondered if any of you can recommend a fantastic chinese for lunch, there was so many, I could not pick any out and to save time - would like to go on a recommendation as this site is for those who have been to pass things on to others.
many thanks in advance
Gregg
ps i'm going 7th july out of gatwick with thomas cook at 11.45 TCX448K anyone else going then ?
Greetings Greg . Nice to hear you are going to Hisaronu . You are right about lots of Chinese restaurants . A really good one is at the very top of the main street on the right going down I dont recall it's name off hand but it is the very first one on the right , on the opposite coner from THE MIDAS TOUCH Jewellers and before the GUNN supermarket and across the road from SHINE Indian which is also very good food . The only down side with said Chinese is that it partially open on one side so the traffic noise can be a bit 0ff-putting but if you get a table away from the side you should be ok . Hope that you find this helpfull . Regards wee-john . PS we are off on saturday week for three weeks .
if you want a really good chinky i would recommend either the dragonara or shanghi blues next to azda
this is only what i was told two weeks ago by very good sources in the village it supprised me as we used to eat there
i dread to think what illegal meat is
We always eat at LYKIA WORLD from the choice of 10 restaurants but as we are out shopping in another town, I we are looking forward to sampling the cusine there.
Hi maverick 57 thanx for the info , I'll be wary . Regards wee-john
it pays to spend a little more and use the two i mentioned above both very close to the merriment
and for those of you at likia world olu deniz has great chinkies my favorite being Belcekiz Beach Club Ala Carte also Won Ton
