Missed it this year as we were to early in the season but have been on previous outings and its very good. If you go in the evening you get to see the sculptures in daylight then after the sun has gone down you can wander around again to see them floodlit.

Yes we were there last September and we enjoyed it as well :tup We'll go back in July as our son is coming with us and am sure he'd like to see it as well and it'll be nice for us if there's some new sculptures.

It'll all be new,Glynis; they scrap it at the end of the season and build a new one on a different theme every year. As jayjan says, this year the theme is ' Hollywood ' and you'll find an article on it HERE.

The sand sculptures are always fabulous and although the site is very large the paths are well laid out so it's easy to see everything. One word of warning - please don't leave anything of value in your car. Last time we were there we returned to our car to find it had been broken into and the whole contents of the boot searched. :( It was full of beach stuff, but one of our friends had left a few euros in a purse in her beach bag - of course the money was gone but the funny thing was the purse was in the picnic bag, all zipped up again! So they are pretty thorough. That was when we discovered that the Travel Rent insurance doesn't cover damage to locks (or the interior of the car) but in the end we didn't have to pay. Since then we never leave anything at all in the car and always take the hatch cover off so potential thieves can see there's nothing in the boot.

However, my abiding memory of that trip to the sculptures is getting a phone call from my very excited daughter to tell us we were going to have a second grandchild! So all in all it was a fantastic day!! :hyper :hyper

Nosivad,

We first of all argued and said we thought everything was covered except the usual tyres, windscreen, etc. We were actually convinced that this was the case and it's the reason why we use Economy Car/Travel Rent all the time. When they showed us a clause in the small print saying that locks and interior weren't covered we said we'd never seen that before (whether or not it had been there and we hadn't checked since first using them we don't know!). We also said they didn't charge us when a lock was actually removed a year or so before (I think this was when we started leaving the hatch cover off to show the boot was empty. Then finally we said we were really good customers of theirs and recommend them widely. They didn't give in - but they never debited the card with any money, and it was only one lock. But it was a lesson for us, as damage to the interior could run into a lot of money. I would add we still use them!

I saw your post re EasyJet's price promise and we were very surprised and wondered whether it would hold good for more than a week or so. It is unusual for the price to go down but not unheard of! We'll be keeping a close eye in future.
