We are considering taking our July 2008 holiday in Turkey but haven't a clue where to head for?
Favourites places with which to compare: Santa Eulalia in Ibiza, Ca'n PIcafort, Calad'or in Majorca
Basically somewhere with a harbour, walking distance of shops, evening entertainment, street artistes etc.,
Not into clubbing, too old, mid teens daughters coming for the tan and a break.
Any ideas?
it sounds as if you would like fethiye region with its harbour, old town full of restaurants and shops lots of history and surrounded by tourist resorts such as ovacik, calis, hisaronu, olu deniz, kalkan ,etc check out the video's on my website to see what the area has to offer
Bodrum also has a harbour, lots of shops, a market, lovely restaturants, a castle etc. It is a very pretty town and is about 45 minutes from the airport. The beach is quite small but some of the resorts nearby have better beaches; Gumbet is a bit more lively and Bitez is smaller and quieter.
I loved it there the first time i went as do alot of people, some people never go anywhere else once they have been there.
bodrum i found lovely but quite busy, more expensive, and daft as it sounds, more "rushed"
depends what you are looking for, i have never been to olu deniz, but this also sounds like a beautiful place that may be suitable
There is also a big stretch of sand and shingle beach, and a lagoon which has private sandy beaches that your hotel can normally phone a minibus to take you to.
There is a wide selection of hotels, 3 AI's at the front of the resort and quite a few B&B's if you wish to take advantage of all the restaurants. You are very close to Fethyie, if you wish to visit a Turkish working town with a harbour, and Hisoranu up the hill from Olu D is slightly more lively if you wish a change of scene.
alanya has a great harbour where the night life is and street/cafe life is situated..in the middle of a great shopping aea.....this is the med at its best...truly cosmopolitan.
Another vote here for Alanya!! Plenty to do so you won't get bored, lovely harbour with plenty of restaurants and bars around it, loads of shops! It's brilliant!!
