I really love the village itself, there are lots of little bars and shops but it is much more 'greek' than nearby places like Ixia for example. There is a nice bar at a road junction (sorry, can't remember the name) which is really good for chilling and letting the world go by. We saw some clubs on the main road towards Trianta when we went but they were closed as it was the last couple of weeks of the season, but the bowling alley was a good laugh. There is a small waterpark which is part of the Blue Bay hotel that is open to non-guests and was quite good value as soft drinks and simple snacks were included. They have a few slides and a 'toilet bowl' , and a toddler area with a pirate ship.

The beach where we were (near waterpark) was quite narrow, and rocky in the sea itself but my hubby and son just wore their swimshoes into the sea and were fine for a paddle about. There are a couple of little bakeries called 'Mike's', which I think is part of a chain, that had pastries that looked heavenly. You are also just a short cab ride away from Rhodes Town so its very convenient for getting about and no long transfers to the airport. I have to say that the planes didn't bother us and the village more than makes up for it.

Oh Ninkynonk. Mike's, you've made my mouth water! Pastries to die for though I still think Stannis has the edge for gateaux. Calories don't count in Rhodes-------do they?!! Roll on october.

Hi Anne, I didn't dare venture into any of the pasty shops for fear of not fitting in the plane seat! The cakes at the hotel were really good (I think they were brought in from Mike's, they looked the same) so I indulged a bit too much there. In the supermarket I also discovered some bags of chocolate praline things in a green wrapper that had a hazelnut in the middle, they were pretty fatal for the waistband.
