Oh my god!!! Small world. ;)
Hope your little boy doesn't take too long to get back into his routine, think it's gonna take me a couple of days!!! He was really good on the aeroplane and your daughter seemed to keep herself occupied. Thomas slept all the way, I tried but found the plane was freezing so just had 40 winks.
Nice to meet you, even it was just a few moments.

Was it planned or have you just booked it?
Hope your flights are better timed than this one. We have booked up to go same time again next year but have checked flights, arrive back in Newcastle 17.55..............unless they change it again at the last minute. :duh
Enjoy.....so jealous!

hi , we booked it jan this year, can you remember what the price was to upgrade to half board whilst there, we plan on doing this a few days to save money. Our flight time back is bad arriving in manchester at 03.00 am and then we have to drive back to scotland!

Sorry but I don't know as we booked to go half board. Perhaps you could try e-mailing them.

Yes, we had a fabulous view from the 5th floor, looked right across to fig tree bay.

We were all in bed by 10 and had a lovely lie in yesterday. Back to normal now, school, work and the dreaded pile of ironing. :cry

Hi glad you all had a great holiday i remember chatting to some of you before you went away about The Rising Star thats gone quick we go Aug for the first time at that hotel but will be our 3rd time in Protaras. Will look forward to your report on this hotel tankyou :tup The one thing that is worrying us this year is the prices and how much things have gone up since the euro has come in we usually spend around £1700 (english money) for the 2 weeks s/c 2 adults and 2 children and some water sports and a visit to water world and enjoy a drink or so ;) in the evenings and eat out all the time we were just wondering how much more to take this year to cover us. We love Cyprus and i hope its not to much more expensive or we will have to think about a diffrent destination next year. Thankyou if any one can give us any info would be very greatfull. :cheers

We usually take 1000E but budgeted an extra 500E just in case and we did spend it all, even though we were half board :really. We also hired a car for three days, had a boat trip and a visit to the waterpark. I found prices were practically the same as England.

We took our usual £1400 for two weeks for the two of us - ran out of money on the 12th day and had to get a further £150 from the bank. I didn't find prices had increased dramatically - its just that that the exchange rate is so awful at the moment and the UK tourist is the one who is suffering the most.

Cyprusjunkie what sort of spending where you doing on that amount?.. three meals out a day?.. loads of booze?.. lots of trips?.. or lots of eating in room, picking the most none tourist spots to go for a couple of meals and no trips ?

Just wondering as we seem to get through a lot more than that without really going to town on the spending...

Didn't skimp on anything but didn't do any trips this year as we have done all those before and didn't bother hiring a car this time otherwise I agree we would have spent more. Had all meals out with the exception of a couple of lunchtimes when we packed a picnic for the beach but soon got fed up with that! Hubby had perhaps 4 pints during the afternoon, frappes, water, sun bed hire, cigarettes, snacks, papers throughout the day, drinks in the bar before we went out, two course meal out every evening with a couple of drinks which averaged 40 euros per couple (didn't bother with wine because I knew I'd be on brandy later in the evening and didn't want a thumping hangover and none of our friends drank it anyway otherwise you could have added another 15 euros to the bill). Back in the bar at 10ish and involved in "rounds" with friends all drinking spirits & mixers until early morning. We didn't look for cheap places to eat and ate wherever we wanted but having been to the same area for a number of years we have got to know a few restaurants where its particularly good value, The Blue Bay, The Jolly Waiter, The Onassis - typical Cypriot tavernas but still within the tourist areas. I was very surprised to find that restaurant prices really hadn't increased that much at all and the only significant increase we found were taxi prices.

Thanks for that, I'm halfway between do I go all inclusive this year to make sure we cover costs, or risk self catering which is what we really want to do... like wondering and eating when and where we choose!

I've got a few months left to see how the funds go and what sort of cost people are having !

Cyprus does seem to be going down the all inclusive option. Certainly the Major in Ayia Napa is pushing for all the big hotels to do All Inclusive. Heaven knows what that would do to the restaurant trade in Cyprus. I'm sure there are going to be lots of reports coming back from tourists that prices have rocketed but I honestly cannot say that I found prices hiked up.
