A garlic tablet a day, you will never be bitten, they hate the taste of you.

As I take a very bad reaction to mazzie bites, can anyone tell me if there are many around just now? Iam heading for PDLA in about 2 weeks. Thanks.
Read the post about garlic. Don't know if it works but I hear they don't like marmite either. I have this on toast most mornings at home. The aroma stays in your pores and puts them off. May be this is why I have never been bitten.
Have a good read through this whole thread - some people get bitten, others say they never see any mosquitos.digby wrote:As I take a very bad reaction to mazzie bites, can anyone tell me if there are many around just now? Iam heading for PDLA in about 2 weeks. Thanks.
Personally, I've never been bitten anywhere in the Canary Islands at any time of the year. I use a plug-in in the hotel/apartment just in case but I don't bother with any of the repellent sprays when I go out at night.
I've heard they prefer certain blood groups, which explains why some people get pestered by them and others don't. They also prefer areas with standing water and greenery, so I suppose hotels with lush gardens and ornamental pools in the gardens may attract them.
