Hi
This is not really a complaint but more of a query but was not sure where was the best place to post it, so if on the wrong forum please feel free to move it to the correct forum.
We did our booking over the phone, we tried to book on line but the website would not accept our credit card details, don't know why, credit limit and expiry dates are fine, our card was accepted on the phone booking on the 4th attempt, it took ages to book and the guy was quite hard to understand as I sure he found me hard to understand. When the confirmation was sent, one of the names was spelt wrong, Rachel was spelt Rahel everyhing else was fine. I emailed them back and when I received no response I rang them up, they said they would contact US Airlines and correct the name at no cost to us as it was their mistake, when I asked them to send me a replacement confirmation email showint the correct name I was told they cannot do this but was assured that the name had been changed and that when we arrived at the airport to check in there will be no problems. We went onto the US Airlines site and put our refence in to bring up or reservation and the name was down as Rahel. I rang them up and they confirmed that Orlandotravel.com had contacted them and made them aware of the situation. I asked could they change the name now and send me an amended confirmation, I was informed that for security reasons they could not do this but that the mistake had been noted. I was told that on checking in that Rachel was to inform the staff who in turn would contact security and that when she shows them her passport we would be ok and that the airline staff would be informed that the name on our confirmation was a mistake and as I had contacted the airline and informed them of the correct name we would have no problems checking in. I am not convinced as I can foresee problems with Rahel being on our e-ticket and Rachel on her passport when we go to check in. Do you think we will be okay and if not what can I do to try and get either who we booked with or US Airlines to send us an amended e-ticket with the correct name on it.
We go to Orlando on 21.10.08 for 14 nights and we booked it as a flight and hotel package on http://www.orlandotravel.com which we have found out is somehow connected to Travelocity. We fly from Gatwick.
I hope I have explained the above ok.
Thanks

well they might have security reasons for not sending an amended confirmation but surely they could send an email saying that they had noted the mistake and their would be no problem in check in. Ask them for that.
Also seems strange that they don't want to get the detail correct as the US are strict about who flies into the country now and the details have to be sent before the flight takes off.
With normal tickets they wouldn't be issued until much nearer the event so maybe they do not have adequate procedures in place for e-ticket changes.
Hope you have a good holiday despite.
Thanks for all the help. I have tried ringing and emailing again a couple of times to no avail, I have requested an email indicating that I have pointed out the spelling mistake as soon as I saw it and that US Airlines are aware of the problem and have changed it on their system, I am going to take the emails with me that I have sent and I have now just got to trust them that they have made the change on their system, that it will also show on the system when we check in that I have phoned the travel company and US Airlines to point out the spelling mistake and that it has been noted that it was not my mistake and rely on their assurances that I will have no problems at check in at Gatwick - watch this space on the morning of October 21st, we are due to fly out at 10.40, I may be on here posting away furiously reporting that Rahel - sorry Rachel did not make it onto the plane but hopefully American efficiency will prevail and we will all be on our way to Orlando (I must admit that I am still secretly worried about it though :-?)
See http://www.travel-lists.co.uk/headline.html for details.
Suggest to the them that this may cause an issue if the names on the tickets doesn't match with your ESTA entry as computers need the same information to verify everything is in order.

It does not apear to come into force properly until January 2009 so I take that means as we go in October this year we do not have to register unless we want to ?
