Over Easter I booked to go to Egypt and like many of you booked a hotel that met the needs of myself and my son. However, upon arrival in Egypt I was moved to the Park Inn hotel which was 20km from the resort centre and I have a list of complaints about this hotel. COuldnt get a move and even tried to get a flight home but was continually told by the reps that it was Easter and everywhere was fully booked, but there where about 30 other parties as well who had been moved to this hotel. Basically, I had the worst holiday ever, it was a complete nightmare, no entertainment, nothing to do and food poisoning to top it off. I have written to Thomas COok who advise overbooking does happen and its regrettable but state I am not entitled to anything else. I have written to them again stating that i should have been given a choice in either a refund or alternative holiday and am awaiting their response, however, I had to write to ABTA to get a response in the first place. On reading some of the topics it appears I am not alone with this. Can anyone give me any further advice on dealing with this situation, have you been in this situation yourself.
