Discussions regarding holidays in Goa.
I have been to 3 meet ups and the first one was Mike and me and a friend and we had a good time and a laugh. The second one was me and my same friend and no one else and the same with the 3rd one so we gave up and never went again.
Why arrange these things if nobody turns up?

squigs I am not very sure, it was Glynis one of the Moderators who kindly sent them to us, but I dont think there is any plans for more ? but maybe Fiona can answer that one better.
Narial I agree 100% - too many meet ups and people wont turn up.
The main objective here is to decide if the meets are still Lazy Days on a Wednesday night and Mai Tai on a Sunday night, and if not, decide where they will be. I suggested the Public Bar, its in Calangute and its very central for everyone, regardless of where they are staying. I also think one meet is enough as people wont go to two meets every week IMO.
Outwith that there is nothing wrong with individuals arranging beach shack meet ups with friends and members etc, I am sure they can easily arrange this by PM.

the bands were too much work for one person to do all the time I'm afraid.

The Public Bar sounds a good idea, I don't know where this is but it sounds easy to find if it is near the steps. My sister and I usually try to get to both meet ups but appreciate people are on holiday and like us often take each day as it comes so don't always turn up even though they are full of good intentions. We usually go for a drink or two after our meal and as we eat late it can be quite late when we arrive and people have been and gone but we try again next time and try to get their earlier but as I said earlier sometimes good intentions go out of the window. Having said that we hve met some great people and look forward to meeting up with more when we go for 3 weeks in December.

Hi everyone, agree the meet up locations need to be altered, although I don't agree with the public bar, [ sorry Gemma] although I like the place it is always sooo busy, I like the suggestion of Rams place 'The Carvery' as it is spacious and has good service and atmosphere. Look forward to seeing you all soon, I am counting the days already,

No problem at all Lin and I think its good to have lots of ideas and suggestions, however, I think we need someplace central.
Candolim is not central if you are staying in Baga or Arpora. Calangute seems the best choice as its in the middle. The Publc Bar is a suggestion as its very central but any decent bar in Calangute would do the trick IMO :)

Only a suggestion but across the road from Public bar is the palm tree which is upstairs and away from the hustle and bustle of Calangute high street, it has great owners and good food if we get enough interested i am sure Max would do it as a private party
, but we would need to find out what dates you all want and how many of us.

I was also going to arrange a meet in December in Candolim as there seems to be quite a few people coming out around the 14th December and we could arrange one for the two or three weeks that new people could attend. I will keep all of you informed about the Candolim meet and anyone who will be staying in Baga/Calangute or Arora are welcome to come along if it is not too far for you to travel GEMMA Ha Ha !!!!. :tongue

Ive been in Palm Tree as well. You sit upstairs? It has karaoke on some nights believe? Yes its in a great location. Is it quite small?
I think what we are trying to do is establish a meeting place for once a week for HTers to go along to if they want, eg. the way its always been, Wednesday or Sunday at 8pm etc, but we are looking at changing the venue, probably making it once and a week and deciding what night we will meet.
Outwith the above there is absolutely no reason for other members not to arrange their own meets in Candolim, Baga, at night at the beach etc etc. Too many meets isnt good, people are on holiday, most only for two weeks and want to do their own thing. People will say they will go along and then wont turn up, others might be offended because of this and more importantly people get confused with all different dates and meet ups.
For instance the beach shack meet up last year was great and I wouldnt mind doing that again, but I just dont think we want to do things like this all the time and have all different dates floating about the place. If thats the case its probably better arranged with interested parties by PM. This is only my opinion of course and ive no idea what others think of this.
PS. Enjoy your meet ups on or after 14 December, I come home on 11 December to spend Xmas with my family :D so party away all you like!!!!! ;)
