Cumbre del Sol

Hi Pippa,
Cumbre del Sol is on a hillside between Benitatchell and Moraira with what appears to be lots of new villas and apartments. We have passed the entrance road quite a few times, although we haven't driven in. I've been told there are lovely walking routes in the hills with fantastic views, and there are wee bays and inlets on the coast which are beautiful. We must have a look in October when we are back in Moraira. Sorry I can't tell you more about the place. :D

:) Cumbre del Sol is perfect for spectacular views towards Calpe and sometimes you can see Ibiza . There is fresh wind in summer if you like this. There are few restaurants and only one small (but nice) beach.
It is far from anything and you won't like the wind in other months than July/August. Its often within a cloud then, whereas its is sunny in the coastal resorts.
The next town is Javea (30 Minutes drive) , the next coastal village is Moraira (15 minutes drive) .
I would prefer to stay in Javea or Moraira and make a tour to the Cumbre del Sol for sightseeing.
You find Apartments in Cumbre del Sol with photos there : http://www.villas4you.de

Apologies to anyone who has a villa there but when I see things like Cumbre del Sol I'm almost glad we have planning departments in our councils.
I'm sure the views are great, but then if we built a holiday villa complex above the white cliffs of Dover the views would be pretty good as well!

Thanks for the information.

We have decided to book as the views from the terrace of the apartment are absolutely fantastic and we do love to sit on the terrace and gaze out at the sea.

Thanks for the picture Colin - interesting! To a certain extent I do take your point but I do quite like the colours of the apartments/villas. I imagine that this is a newly developed area - probably over time it will appear to blend in with the area a bit more. I have seen far worse complexes I can assure you!!

I've seen much more flattering pictures than that one :)

I think I'd definitely need a hire car if I stayed there, too old for cliff climbing

I am here now, almost midnight and still sitting outside on my patio
We have owned an apartment on CDS and I stay here most months for a week or so
It's true that its often windier than on the coast but in the summer that's a blessing. I have only occasionally seen the residential parts in cloud in winter and in bad weather, its true the top of the mountain is more often covered but apart from some TV aerials and a scenic viewpoint there's nothing up there
The views from most parts are beautiful, there are in fact three beaches, one which is accessible by car and two others which involve walking down steep valleys, there also an amazing cliff walk. Visit the tourist office in Benitachell and get a copy of their leaflets on walks in the area.

Thank you so much for that useful information. I'm sure we will really enjoy it.

Going to Cumbre del Sol in June. Our flight lands in Valencia around 1530 so hopefully if on time we should arrive in Cumbre about 1730 after getting the car etc. - it is a Saturday.

I know there are a couple of supermarkets there but does anyone know what time they are open to and also the opening hours on the Sunday.

Pep de Sal on the Cumbre is open Sunday morning
One the way down from Valencia you will pass close to Carrefour at Gandia and there is a large new shopping centre and supermarket at Ondara just beside the motorway and N332, that's worth a visit and will be open Saturday evening. If all else fails there is a OpenCor in Moraira thats open till 2am!

We have just come home from a week in Cumbre del Sol.

We had the most fantastic views from the apartment - almost sea on three sides. The name Pueblo Panorama says it all really.

Actually the photo link that Colin posted last year is of the apartments that we stayed in - the 5th block from the right of the picture!! They probably don't look their best from that angle but are lovely when you get up to them.

The area was so quiet - sitting out on the balcony which was huge you could almost hear a pin drop. It was quite amazing some days to see white fluffy clouds that were on the same level or sometimes lower than we were. It can be quite windy but I would imagine that on an extremely hot day that would be a blessing.

The supermarket on site is very well stocked and actually better than the bigger one in Benitachell. A car is most certainly essential as we did not see one bus all week.

We would certainly return to this lovely scenic area of the Northern Costa Blanca.
