Totally agree 15kg just not enough, I think it's just a way of getting parted from our hard earned cash.CBG

I booked a holiday yesterday to go next Wednesday with Thomson and I have 20kgs allowance.
A few weeks ago I bought a large holdall on wheels which is very light so I was prepared for the 15kg allowance.
I put my shoes and books in the flight bag which is the biggest allowed, and buy my toiletries after security to save on weight.
I realise I have been taking too much away with me!I only hope they dont reduce it to 10kgs :rofl

Its party due to the cost of fuel, more weight of luggage mean more fuel required, so airline has to pay more.
Thomas Cook, First Choice (for lates i think) XL Airways are allowing 15kg as standard, with the option to upgrage to 20KG. I have a feeling that all charter airlines will follow this soon.

i queired (sp) this with thomas cook as we only got 15kg off them but fly with Iberworld. I looked on the Iberworld website and it says we're allowed 20kg's and thats what they issue you with, but its the travel agent that takes 5kg's and sells it back to you if you want more.

I wrote to ABTA about it because i didnt think it was right that i have to buy back what was issued to me in the 1st place! anyway long story short thomas cook have now allowed us the 20kg's that Iberworld give us.

Ask your travel agent, i did, why should i pay for something that was mine anyway!

some charters are still 20kg hold 5 hand but most appear to have gone down the 15kg route i would not be surprised to find Thomson go down this road next year,
all it really means is you either cut down to what you need instead of what you want, or cop the cost of extra weight,, we holiday through out the year my case is never more than 14kg and Mrs wizard 14.5 kg and that includes all the smells and bells ,the iron and kettle,

Fings ain't wot they used to be ......... and that applies to baggage allowances too.

It really comes down to deciding whether to pay the excess or to exercise your brain to pack more selectively - or both!

Luxury is becoming a thing of the past, and in all corners of life we need to learn to cut down .......

It wont be long before we all have to step on the scales at check in :rofl I am just thankful I can go on holiday as by next year with the price of fuel rising I think it will be back to the UK for holidays!
Thats if we can afford the petrol/diesel :yikes

We went down to London last weekend for a family wedding, with Flybe, and had 20kgs luggage allowance between the two of us. Our case weighed in at a nifty 19.5kgs! And we were only away one night (did have two bulky wedding outfits though, oh yeah and three bags of make-up, an iron, hairdryer........)
:rofl

catmadblonde,

There's a thread all about the 15kg luggage limit and how to cope over on the General Holiday Enquiries forum.

In addition to the topic which Darren has already linked to, we also have a HOLD LUGGAGE Q&As topic here in this forum, and so it's probably best that I close this topic now to reduce further repetition.
