These aren't are rules - it's the rules of the internet and we could get into trouble for allowing them to be reproduced on this site. Sorry about this.
I just wanted to clarify that HotelBeds are NOT related to Go2Spain in anyway whatsoever.
Hotelbeds sell hotel rooms to the industry and as has been correctly stated by someone else, they were wholly owned by First Choice which now makes them part of the TUI group.
What you will find when making bookings with companies such as Travel Republic, Winter Sunshine Holidays, Rooms net and of course Go2Spain is that your accomodation voucher will state somewhere that the accomodation provider for your hotel is HotelBeds, Medhotels are any number of other agents.
It does not mean these companies are part of the outfit you booked through, just that your agent has contracted the room through them.
Most of the time these companies only pay the likes of HotelBeds etc. after you have completed your trip which is why when these companies go out of business your hotel rooms are rarely honoured.
Thanks
Mark
Hotel beds are the supplier whose head office is in Mallorca. They were First Choice but then TUI bought the latter. They sell through out the world. This is correct as I work as a Travel Agent. The Credit Crunch hasn't helped but neither has a company who was basing it's commission on a booking of £2.00 per person irrelevant of how much the booking cost.It soon catches up with them. It's awful to be in this position but in the pecking order of the creditor's the Client is likely to get nothing.I was in the same position 19 years ago and got nothing. It's frustrating and leaves a bad taste in the mouth.I was so mad I took it to the newspapers.
Thanks for the info re Hotel beds. We were just told they were connected to go2spain by our hotel, all I knew about them prior to that was that they were who go2spain booked our transfers (that were cancelled with no warning to us) with. I am happy to accept that we were given incorrect information and if a moderator would like to please amend the statement then that's totally fine.
just to let everyone know. further to the company going bust my boyfriends parents spoke with their bank and have subsquently ade a successful claim for the £1600 they lost on this booking. they also had a fantastic time in benidorm and managed to put this to the back of their minds whilst they were over there.
thanks to anyone who helped and good luck to those who arepursuing claims at the moment

Many thanks for coming back and updating us.
