I have just returned from Sunny Beach and had a quality time, i will detail my experience below and try to answer some of the questions i wanted to know before i went:
HOTEL: I stayed in the Bluebell, was a very nice 4star holtel with pool waiters big pool and reasonable priced drinks (2/3 lev i think). However it is an 18-30's holtel so can be bust, also the bfast isngt great and catered strongly towards german tastes.
BARS: Lots and lots of bars but not all congregated in one place so have to walk around unfortunatly. Mexo bar was good fun and very lively, as well as the beach bar by the bungi ride (ul see this when you get there). Also corner bar was good for cocktails people watching and enjoying the gogo girls. also the Irish bar was good and sold magners,
RESTAURANTS: Djannys good and very cheap, also the retaurant at Club Lazer again food very good and very cheap. These two were probably the cheapest we found. 4 main meals, bottle of wine, six beers, 3vodka mixes about 25lev each (about £12).
PRICES: As above for food but varys where you go, the above (and also Condors)were the cheapest we found. Again for drinks you need to shop around. Happy hours tend to last till the early hours. Generally looking at about 3lev for a beer and 5lev for a cocktail although cocktails tend to be buy one get one free and stong.
Water from the shops was 1lev for a big bottle but take my word it was horrible!! Splash out on the Evian bit more expensive but very worth it!!
CLOTHS/SOUVENEERS: Good prices, i bought some Lacost aftershave for about 12lev (£6) and a Hugo wallet for 8lev (£4). My girlfriend also bought some nice designer bags for very reasonable prices too. Obviously these are fakes but in my opionion very good fakes and also impossible to tell apart. However the matkets arnt much for bartering.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: We went on the bung catapolt for 40lev which was really dood fun. Did parasailing again 40/50lev and also gokarting 25lev.
WARNINGS: Do not go to the beach after dark, my frind went for a tinkle and was mugged (not violently) and fortunatly for him he only lost 50lev. Also the taxi drivers are con merchants. We went on the 'bike' taxi for 5mins and was quoted 10lev for a 5min ride. However at the end he wanted 40lev, suffice after much arguing we didnt pay. Also i found many bulgarians to be quite rude and customer services not to be great. Most times our food came out in drabs so we seldom ate our means together. However when you got used to this it wasnt a big deal.
All in all a great holiday and came back with lots of extra money. I Think it is struggling a bit with the increase in tourism and in my opionion wont stay as cheap for thiis long. Any questions let me know i will do my best to help.
Hi - thanks for the lowdown. Glad you had a good time
Hi, Good report, glad you enjoyed it.
Who did you book the hotel with? I have tried to find it so it can be added to our reviews site, but haven't been successful so far.
Booked through club 18-30 but know it is available through a few other places as it not exclusivly a club 18-30 hotel. I have seen it a few times on sky travel shop.
