The two closest areas are Kalithea and Afandou. Kalithea is to the North side of Faliraki (towards Rhodes Town) and Afandou to the South. I would say Afandou is more likely on a cheap deal, Kalithea tends to have the smarter hotels, Afandou lots of small self catering apartment blocks. You never know your luck though!

Kalithea is mainly based around the hotels, there's not a great amount of bars, restaurants, etc in the vicinity - handy for Faliraki though. Afandou is a traditional greek village but does cater to tourists with it's shops, bars and restraurants. Both are fairly quiet and laid back resorts but only a 10 minute taxi ride from Faliraki, if that.

thanks for your help, doesnt sound too bad then and close to faliraki! what is there in the way of beaches in these 2 towns? and faliraki's beach?

Hi. Unlikely to Be Afandou , because the beach is a fair way from the village across the main Rhodes Town to Lindos Road. If you are in Rhodes Town beaches there not very nice, & tend to be windy. Faliriki beach is 5k long mostly sand. Various water sports available. Faliraki Water park is largest in Europe, & well worth a visit. Where ever you stay you will have a great holiday. Beware of the sun. It will be very very hot.

a little train goes to afandou beach from the afandou square. To walk it is about 20 min. not too bad depending on where you will be staying. Afandou has a pebbly beach with sand mixed. Afandou square has a lot of bars where most of the tourist go for a drink and a chat. Mainly English tourists you meet in Afandou.
