We're 2 60 year olds and have been to Ibiza a few times but wondered about Menorca. Is it more expensive( a few people have mentioned that it's pricey) also confused where to go. We like self catering with spanish bars, resturants and public transport to get around, we're not in our dotage yet so don't want anywhere too quiet. Glad for any suggestions.

Hi,
we went to menorca for the first time last year and we were told the same (more expensive) by a few people, so we took more money than we usually take (to gran canaria) but, found the prices only marginally more expensive. We even brought back money which is a first for us!!!

I have just come back from Cala n Bosch and as a couple self catering for a week, we spend £300 just on food and drink.(Eating at restuarants each night etc) I dont know how this compares to Ibiza as I havent been there for a few years now.
Can you recommend any good restaurants in cnb flossy? Are there any tex-mex /chinese/ spanish or just a good paella?
How much is a beer/glass of wine/spirit and mixer?
We,re going in 7 weeks, and I dont really know how much spending money to take with us for a family of 5. Our hotel has a a/l option as well as a a/l drinks option and Im contemplating whether to take advantage of these because of the poor exchange rate and rising prices in the euro zone (but we would rather eat out on a evening, as this is part of the holiday for us) but if its going to cost an arm and a leg then we will probably opt for the hotel package.
Anyway, did you enjoy your hols? I bet you,re sick coming back too our horrendous british summer

As Im a fussy eater (dont eat Chinese etc) I didnt visit any places like that. I can recommend a restuarant called Bahia which is one of the first as you sort of come from the Goody Goody park. We went there 3 times and the steak was lovely better than I had at home for a long time. Also had some nice pasta from there too. Had a nice wide range on the menu but as so did most of the others just along that part as well. We didnt like one called El Pato, they couldnt get our drinks right let alone my order of just plain chicken, it came with some green sauce on!
I dont know about alcohol price as I dont really drink but soft drinks were about 2 euros in the restuarants.
Just to add for 2 of us our bills were about 35 euros a night for 3 courses with soft drinks.
Its great to be back to the rain!lol

Thanks for your help flossy, So I need to budget at least 70 euros per night, luckily we wont need to buy our little boy a meal, as he will have abit of everything from the four of us, then probably an icecream for dessert. We will have brekkie in the apartment, then make a pack up to take out with us for lunch. The restaurant near the goody goody park sounds good, handy as it looks like we will be spending a lot of time there
Only 6 weeks and 5 days to go, and looking at the dire forecast for the rest of the British summer, we will sooo ready for some sun
