Hi all - had a fabulous time.
The weather on the whole was great. We did a few trips booked through First Choice - Khan's Tent and the Party Night in the evening which was good fun. We also did the Ecological Trip which I can really recomend. We fitted so much in in one day. They took us in modern little Suzuki Jeeps (so really it is like going in a car) down to the Strandza (have probably spelt that wrong) Mountains near the Turkish Border. Visited a cave with an undergound river (which I didn't go in, I'm a coward), a waterfall, had a lovely lunch and visted some traditional houses and then saw a singing troupe made up of women of a certain age who were just fantastic - such good fun. There was a fair bit of clambering around over rocks to get to the cave so might not be best if you are not so mobile though you could just stay with the jeeps if it was too much and they give you a walking stick to help you along. There was a bit of off roading but it was pretty tame - just bumpy really. There's not much they can do with Suzuki Jeeps The driver did have some interesting driving techniques around Bourgas though which was a bit hair raising. I have kept a list of the First Choice trips and prices if anyone wants any info on what is on offer.
We also hired out a taxi to take us to Kotel and Zhervana which was a lovely day out. The driver was just brilliant and showed us around and even got them to open a closed museum for us. He then took us to a beautiful riverside restaurant for lunch. He advertised the trip for 190 LV but only wanted 160 LV because there was two of us, but we gave him 190 anyway and paid for his lunch, which cost next to nothing anyway.
We also visited the Gypsy Camp at the Dolphin/Delfin. My friend booked cabs for us (there was about twenty of us) and he booked tables for us - it was full that night. The food was a bit pricey but it was delicious and the show was good. Get there before 8 if you have kids for the clown show. I had duck fillets with caramlised apple and raisin and walnut sauce and it was the best thing a ate all holiday. On the menu it said duck fillets with caramel and then a load of gobbleygook but I was feeling adventurous and gave it a whirl to see what I would get.
Went to quite a few places at night. Too many to list really. Had a good time in all of them. The only bad meal I had was in my hotel.
Never saw any trouble, nor spoke to anyone who had. We were there with friends and friends of friends so no problems at all in that extended group. I heard a rumour of someone having jewellery taken from their room, but I keep mine in the safe anyway.
I stayed in the Polyusi for the fourth year running which was just fine. I'll post a review on it soon.
Sorry if there are any spelling mistakes or anything that doesn't make sense. I am still very tired and sooo looking forward to getting up at 5.30 and going back to work tomorrow
Hi there was just wondering if you had done a hotel review yet as we are looking at this hotel for September. There doesn't seem to be any reviews.
Hi - yes. I did a review, but the hotel is still listed under it's old name of Sever/Yug rather than Polyusi
Here you go
Has some crappy reviews but I think it's fine. I suppose it depends on what you are after in a hotel.

Should imagine you can hire scooters and bikes. Don't really know to be honest. They pretty mad drivers out there and the roads aren't that fantastic.
Hi just like to say thanks for that.
I have asked Admin to change the name of the hotel.
Hotel name changed. How's that for service!

Hi Spottiswoode,
Whistler-alison quite right, they're lunatics.
Another point to bear in mind is that the chances are your holiday insurance wouldn't cover you in the event of an accident, and the supplier's definitely won't no matter what they show you.
Peter
cheers Luci
