Ooh you can just sit back and wait for Tuesday to roll round now Scully, it's so nice when it's all done and dusted, have a brill holiday :cheers

Milly-Molly I agree, I think if someone wanted to get into your case they would. We tend to padlock the zips on our cases and also on the holdalls. I saw some luggage straps the other day that had a coded lock on them but my first thought was if someone wanted access to your case they would just cut the straps, not try to figure the combination lock :que Anyway it's really nice of your Son's to be doing their washing on hols ;)

hahaa! yeah, that's what I thought!

Mind you, they both do know how to use a washing machine.

Now an iron...that's a different kettle of fish altogether....

(And if they think I am ironing when I am on holiday they can think again! :) )

Well, I am happy to report that even with our hard bodies cases, we were all well underweight both going and coming back!
We would have even been ok with 18kg weight allowance this year! (We had 20kg allowance)

I don't know who was more shocked, hubby or me! :haha

I have just come back and my case weighs 4.80k but it is a very large case and light for the size.
I had 20k going and 26k coming back with jet2 and not a word was said about excess charges.

Very lucky but I now know that I can pack for my NZ/OZ trip well within the limits allowed.

Jeez, you were lucky!

Between 4 of us last year Jet2 fleeced us!

(2kg each overweight - which was debatable - and charged £8 per kilo overweight.
Total fleecing £64.00 :banghead: )

I had a tripp case but it weighed 5kg. With only 15kg allowance I decided to get a holdall type. Anyway turned out mother n law had one in her attic so Oh went to get it.

Only turned out to be a Samsonite one she had bought in USA to cart back all the clothes she ahd bought! RESULT.

Only weighed 2.4kg. I rolled my clohtes and everything came out fine AND only weighed 11.5kg with clothes! OH even better at 10.5!!!

Much to my surprise (and hubbys! :) ) my case only weighed 17kg (I had allowance of 20kg) for a two week holiday this year.

And that was with two heavy hard bodied cases! Result! :tup

We got some of the £10 wheeled holdalls from Argos a couple of years ago HERE. Nice and lightweight, very roomy but impossible to pull around!
The reason they are light is because they don't have the extending handle which makes other wheeled holdalls/cases a bit heavier (and sturdier). These cheap ones just "sag" in the middle as you're pulling them and are the most awkward things I've ever used.
I sent son off to Uni with one last September - he brought it back at xmas (with all his washing) and begged me not to make him take it back again - I had to let him take a big "proper" suitcase which I don't use for flights anymore because it's too heavy.
I've bought new sturdy holdalls for our girlie holiday at Easter, they are a little heavier and not as large but we'll just have to be a bit stricter with our packing!

7.4KG empty!

My suitcase is usually 23-25KG, and I pack the kitchen, bathroom and WC sink!

So far, touch wood- never been charged excess when going on holiday.
