Hiya :), I'm looking for some advice on choosing a Lanzarote resort for our first time visit Aug 09 - two 49ers, two 16 year old boys and two 18 year old girls. I was thinking about Playa Blanca as it sounded a little more up market than the others. Hubby and I like good eating places and bars that stay open late. The girls aren't club ravers but would like some lively (not rowdy) bars. I'd expect the boys to make their own entertainment with their skateboards but some idea of what's around for their age group would be helpful. Could you tell me if there are a reasonable amount of bars in Playa Blanca or if they wanted to go to Playa del Carmen or Teguise, how long would it take to travel there?
Thanks
Mer
Hello Mer. PDC would be your best bet to stay there'll be plenty going on for you all, whilst not in your face all the time, Plenty of bars for a late night drink and load s of choice for food, there's also a lot better chnace of your kids, meeting people of their own age.

To be honest it depends where you stay in Puerto del Carmen as to whether you end up in the 'noisy' end of town. You might find that Playa Blanca is just a little bit too quiet. I've been to the Island many times and I'm not overly sure I'd want to be staying there. If you're not living off the Avenida de las Playas you'll find enough there to suit your taste and if not there's a regular bus service that takes you around the Island.
Don't worry about not be able to escape the noise in PDC, the only really noisy place in Centro Atlantico and you can easily avoid this, however this is nowhere near the likes of Tenerife, Ibiza, etc etc
To be honest, We normally stay at the side of Centro Atlantico anyway, opposite the beach and it's great, you don't get bothered by any noise from the late bars in there etc etc...the apartments are basic but good and the location and views across the road to sea are fantastic and make it ideal for us
PDC is by no means over run with youngsters with just as much for adults to do, I have never been to Playa Blanca, I have heard that it is a beautiful place with great beaches, but as Eternal Outsider says, I have also heard it can be very quiet in the evening, with PDC, you can certainly have quiet if you want, or you can have lively, the choice is yours and certainly not in your face ....
During the day, there's plenty to do, we like to take a walk to the old town, about 15/20 lesiurley stroll and feed the fish at the harbour, plenty of places to stop for a bite to eat and a drink, in the other direction we do a 3 mile or so walk along the beach to Matagorda, (about 30 mins) just walking with our feet in the waves,
If you do decide on PDC<give me a shout, I'll give you a few idea's on places to eat and drink
Danny
