Loads of hotels - but romantic???? any suggestions? (prize for anyone who can recommend romantic in coventry!!!!!!!!!!)
If you will stretch to North East then Lichfield is that direction and there are plenty of romantic retreats in that area. Or how about Sutton Coldfield and The Belfry or Marston Farm Hotel...that one is very very romantic. Or The Castle Hotel in Tamworth.
Tamworth and romantic in the same sentence. Never!!! 
Belfry is nice and posh but it's full of either golf bores or business bores. I'd go for somewhere between Stratford and the Cotswolds and maybe down as far as Evesham.

The Castle Hotel in Tamworth is very romantic! The castle itself is romantic and St Editha's gothic pile of a church is more cathedral in size than church!
We are going to the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham in September and would like to find a hotel (within walking distance) to stay for one night.
I have just looked at the UK reviews and think we will give the Hilton Metropole and the Quality Hotel a miss but other than the Comfort Inn and the Holiday Inn can anyone recommend anywhere?

Friends of mine have stayed at the Hyatt on Broad Street and the Malmaison at the Mailbox - both are normally quite pricy but apprently do some cheap deals so are worth a look.

Also NiteNite is pretty good if you're just looking for somehwere to sleep. Really well finished/decorated but rooms are tiny, more like cabins - great value though.
NiteNite is certainly very reasonable but Hubby thinks that it would be weird without a window and i think that I would like a little more space. But thanks Marcuschap72.
