Maybe I am misunderstanding your post, but are saying that you want somewhere noisier than Puerto del Carmen or do you mean quieter(without the less). Playa Blanca is quieter than PDC. It has some nice restaurants and bars.
In Playa Blanca you don't get hassled and I would think other resorts are the same.

ha, sorry about my wording, I meant somewhere quieter, we have decided to look between Playa Blanca and Matagorda, still unsure.

Playa Blanca is quieter than PDC, but it's not dead. You won't get any hassle from PRs.

I would certainly choose Play Blanca over Matagorda.

hi robertk,

I've never been to Lanzarote before but am looking to book for 09. Its interesting to hear you say that 'it's not dead'. From what I've read I like the idea that PB is less commercialised than PDC and that it still retains a degree of Spanish influence. But as I'm holidaying with two 18 yr olds I'm wondering if they will be bored. I'm weighing this up with the adults in the party who don't want a 'Blackpool in the sun' holiday in PDC.

Can you tell me if the bars/restuarants stay open late and what entertainment (hopefully low key) exists for the 18 yr olds. I'm trying to imagine what PB is like. If you had to compare its likeness with another resort, which would it be?

I would personally recommend Matagorda, because we have had so many good holidays there. We are back there on Monday!

It is nice and peaceful, with fantastic restaurants, but also only five minutes away from Puerto Del Carmen if you do fancy a bit more nightlife, and to be honest, even then PDC is nothing like Blackpool really... you never get huge gangs of 18-30's, and in all the years we have been going to Lanzarote (trying all the resorts), Matagorda really is our favourite!

Hi there - don't worry about the 18 year olds - there's plenty about for them too.

In Playa Blanca, restaurants tend to be all done by midnight - but that's when some bars are just starting to liven up.

Wax Bar, Rooftops, Legends, Jungle, and Atlantis will all keep your younger contingent amused until the wee hours. There's no banging discos per se - just late license with a bit of music. The Spanish bars (Atlantis and Jungle) are probably the busiest after midnight... but we actually prefer Rooftops. It's a firm favourite with the local English speaking community. There's a nice chilled out feel to the place (which is why we chose to live here).

The range of restaurants is excellent... and listening to the waves as you dine is just heaven.

Whatever resort you decide upon, Lanzarote shouldn't disappoint you.

Hi

Has anyone stayed at the Aparthotel Sun Royal - Playa Blanca? - the revues look quite good - just wanting to have a quiet break before Christmas.

Thanks - Gretchen
