Yes i have been following the news about it . The loss of trees are a big thing in turkey especially the Antalya region as there has been so many lost to the building of golf courses .All over turkey you will see trees that seem to grow through hotel terraces and balconies and such ,that is because the will not cut them down ,most of the trees have a tin plate fixed to them with a number which means they are registered with the turkish forestry commission ,sad to see so many trees being burned down and the devistation it causes in villages and towns.

I was watching the smoke yesterday as it completely covered the sky.The authorities now have it under control although it not yet out. They had five helicopters and six planes to help. The fire was that large at one point it would have covered 285 Wembly Stadiums. Now we have another near to Fethiye and some of the planes and Helicopters have been diverted there.I was watching them fly and scoop up sea water before flying on to Fethiye. Two people killed in the Manavgat fire but no news let re Fethiye. Not so good for Turkey at the moment.

The fire is still going, six days it has been burning, it has covered 100 km and several villages have been completely destroyed. It is very bad.

The fires have received quite a lot of coverage in the UK newspapers, especially since the tourist areas in Antalya have been most affected.
