hi
we have just returned from a great holiday in tenerife, but now feel quite annoyed by being overcharged!
we booked an excursion through the thomas cook rep and i paid 105 euros for the trip, through a debit card.
when i arrived home and checked my statement i have been charged 114.90euros!
i know its only 10 euros but its the principle.
i have sent copies of receipt and statement to thomas cook and am awaiting a reply.
has this happened to anyone else?
regards
tracey
could it be a charge for using your debit card
It's usually just the credit card that has a charge put on it.
no. there was no charge. have checked for other goods bought and i have been charged exactly what i expected to pay.
But were those other goods bought purchased via the rep?

Anything through a holiday company usually has a card charge of some description.
Well I booked clients on excursions for years, and never charged other than the price of the excursion. Perhaps the euro rate changed between the time of booking the excursion and the bank receiving the charge?
You paid by card only to find that the local currency conversion rate used by TC was somewhat different to that used by banks resulting in a higher price being paid. With multiple bookings this is not always immediately obvious and when I went back and queried it I was told "tough! that was the rate that TC had specified was to be used and they had to convert it to local currency for the local bank."
Come to think of it that was the last excursion I booked through them!
We are just back from Turkey and booked trips through First Choice. The prices were given in £, but the rep told us it would be paid in Lira as that's how it worked. We asked her if she could assure us that the total price would be the same and she was adamant it would be. I've just checked our online statement and it's cost us £10 more than it should have done- not a lot I know, but it's the principle of the thing. I would like to bet the price paid is never less!! This definately didn't include card charges as they are itemised separately.
the rep never mentioned anything about paying in gbp, receipt says 105 euros not 114 as what was debited.
Is this the Thomas Cook passport card that is mentioned in the Lanzarote thread? Hope you get satisfaction, as you say, it may only be a small amount but that really isn't the point. I have no knowledge of these cards I'm afraid.
