No idea of the actual date but we went in Dec 2006 and the crowds are unbelievable so I would guess the actual first lighting would be far worse, It really was like a moving sea of people and you just kept moving as it was almost impossible to stop It is nice but we found an even nicer one with a skating rink as well at one of the small parks between Empire State / Time sq. it had a German Christmas market on with food & drink and was busy but not stupidly so.

Hi Graham, thanks for the reply. Yes i can quite imagine how busy it can get, but even just a glimpse of it would be quite nice. The German market sounds quite cool as I love that kind of thing too. Well, will just have to see nearer the time and just go with the flow. Have been to US but never New York and I'm so looking forward to it, wish it was November now

Is that Wednesday 26th or Friday 28th?? 28th November is a Friday. If it is 28th I wont be there, if 26th thats my last night

Thats ok emdia43, easy done Oh well, maybe next time then huh? Im sure there will be plenty going on that will keep us entertained anyhow, im still looking forward to it despite that.
